Telling Everyone about Jesus – When Jesus was transfigured on Mount

Tabor the voice of the Father from heaven commanded the Apostles to lis-
ten to God’s beloved Son, Jesus. Yet, there are times where this is easier
said than done. Today’s Gospel, for instance, shares the story of Jesus heal-
ing the leper. Jesus asks the newly-healed leper not to tell anyone about
what happened. Yet, the man immediately goes and tells everyone about
Jesus and how he healed him. After Jesus was raised from the dead, he commands his disciples
to go and teach all nations. Yet, that call was not only for his closest disciples, but for all of us
who are followers of Jesus. How often do we go out and tell everyone about Jesus and his
work in our lives? While On Mission for The Church Alive! will soon bring about change in
our parishes, it should also bring about change in our hearts and lives. How will we be called
to grow as a family of faith and as disciples of Jesus who tell everyone about his powerful and
loving work in the world? As Lent begins this week may we ask God to open and transform
our hearts for this important task. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay
informed.

ANNUAL FISH FRY BEGINS THIS WEEK

The Annual Fish Fry will begin this week, Ash Wednesday, February 14th
and continue every Friday through Lent, except Good Friday, from 11:30am-
2:00pm and 4:00pm-7:00pm.
* BAKERS—Baked goods will be needed for the fish fry beginning with Ash
Wednesday and then for every Friday after that.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS will be needed to help distribute Ashes at the hospital on Ash
Wednesday, February 14th. If you are available for this ministry, please call the parish office.

“MAN UP”
55 men from four churches in the Valley including Mary, Mother the Church, Our Lady of the
Valley, St. Damien of Molokai and St. Mary’s gathered for the initial MAN UP information
and planning meeting on January 25th. A positive exchange of men’s spiritual needs and ideas
were discussed and the formation of our Multi-Parish spiritual men’s group has begun. Our
next gathering will be at the dinner hosted by Jack’s Pack on February 22nd at Mary, Moth-
er of the Church beginning at 6pm. Cost of the dinner will be $10 and proceeds benefit the
Greater Charleroi Food Bank which recently suffered significant losses due to a flood. Please
RSVP to either Mark at 724- 797-1634 or Tom at 724-938-8265. Additionally, the men will
be gathering at 7:15am at St. Damien’s on Sat. February17th for the Divine Mercy Chaplet,
Mass at St. Francis in Finleyville and then an optional breakfast. We ask all men to prayerfully
consider answering God’s call to MAN UP, through spiritual growth and continued fellow-
ship. “Just give it a shot!”
