own set of symbols. There are also small mushrooms growing inbetween the three layers, the
front cover reads "Rakatesh´ notebook".
(The first two entrys describe a rather uneventful journey of Rakatesh from a place called the
Blight Swamp towards the floating city named Parabor - his thoughts on the nature scenes that
unfolded infront of him, the surroundings and animals he saw down the road, different type on
fungi he got his hands on, and strange recipes for different type of mushroom soups he tested
out along the way, which he describes with sizeable enthusiams and passion)
Entry 3.
On my way to Parabor for equipment and mayhaps help for the quest at branch, a giant hawk-
like creature flew over, squeeling at a horrific pitch. The squirrels on a nearby tree offered me a
hideout, which i naturally accepted. We found a lot of common tounge on the different nuts,
berrys and shrooms bewildering the area, when all of a sudden i was confronted by a dwarf on a
steed, accompanied by an overly enthusiastic human bard, and a person in robes wearing a
mask. I still have no clue of his origin as his skin is covered in bandages. We learned eachothers
names, and after the bard expressed her concern over my contagiousness and suggested i
should fix my face, we found a common travel ground - Parabor. As we headed towards the city,
the huge hawk-like bird returned. The spelltongue made some sort of rope trick to create a
hiding place for us. After the hawk left, we continued towards the city. We saw the enormous
beast once more, this time in acongenial distance. On the road we passed a place called Triskar
farm, where my new acquaintances met up with someone constructing a giant weapon to bring
down the hawk. Apparently the beast was chasing the party for some reason they didnt want to
make reveal. Not my business, i guess. After exchanging pleasantries we continued to a local
market, where i managed to buy a set of exotic shroom pieces. The vendor took my payment,
sadly in gold, and consumed it... The dwarf had a hard time beliving his eyes upon seeing what
had just happened. We looked around some more and started travelling towards the floating
city, during which I offered the Thanaen a shroom for guidance, which he accepted. He seems to
have more respect for natures gifts that the other two, who upon seeing shrooms, cruse them
and throw them back to the ground. Silly people, this is not how you grow mushrooms. They did
have a fair reason tho - they had come across an extremely rare sortiment of fungi, called Bahl
fungi. The fact that they only grow in the belly of demons makes it very dangerous to consume,
yet exceedingly fruitful - taken the consumer knows how to guide poison within ones body, these
shrooms could be used to actually travel in time. Back on the road, all of a sudden the dwarf
pointed at an enormous cloud of smoke. A squirrel dancing on a branch was kind enough to talk
to me and told me the fire is made by men. As we rushed towards the smoke, my heart
weakened from the scene that unfolded infront of us - a massive dance of flame devouring the
forest. The pain and hurt inside me couldnt be silenced, which led me to bewilder the
surroundings as much as i could. Chanting words taught to me by my uncle, i enrichened a small
area out the the armys eye´ reach. It seemed to help, but I must return within a year to see how
it has progressed, if at all. Thanean also said his prayers to the forest, i think he understood the
scale of murder that had been authorized for the army. The spelltongue justified the armys
actions with a horde of undead threatening the land. Little does he know how undeath and
nature coexicst in my land. I wonder how he would feel about me justifying someone burning
down his society "for the greater cause". Before reaching the city, there were a few guards on
the road who laughed over they physical attributes of my new dwarf friend. He handled it in a
civilized matter, leaving them to laugh at their own joke, if you can even call it that. He seems to
be the most reasonable and morally ambiguous of the three so far. We finally got to the city
gates. What a magnificent place! I never belived i would witness it with my own eyes, but there
it was - a massive city floating on huge chuncks of rocks, water flowing down in streams from the
sides into a massive river under it. The city is packed with people who have traveled all over. My
new friends showed me the way to a huge monastery, which was inhabited by a spectacular
blue-skinned race. Very modest and completely quiet, they kept to theirselves. While Vi and Iris
went to see someone they knew, me and Thanean inspected what seemed to be a never-ending
library. The books were magically binded, which resulted in keeping them in alphabetical or
historical order, atleast that´s how it seemed to me. I found no literature on the clan im
supposed to find, and Thanean didnt find the book he was looking for either, but he did get
some information on where to find it. Heading towards the location, we found a petstore. I made
a small marking in Druicid on the wall of the shop, so other druids would know to visit the place.
Numerous plants nurturing the oxygen of the shop, it was full of different plant and animal
species. There was even a fullbodied spider who had built a well-structured connection of webs
in one of the corners at the ceiling, of which Thanean didnt seem to be too fond of. Altho there
were animals who seemed to be locked up, none of them complained and they said the be
wellfed and looked after. Their only concern was becoming the meal of a beautiful blue-haired,
catlike creature that had spiked limbs on the back of her neck, peacfully sleeping on the counter.
Mistakening the cat for the storeowner, we tried asking the cat for possible purchases, to which
it only flickered it´s tail as a warning for disturb his comfort. Eventually we managed to find the
shopowner, who took great pride in describing the animas and plants around. After hearing a
heart-breaking story of a never-loved, black-furred squirrel, i decided to buy him for myself to
make him a better future, and maybe see if he can help with my experiments. I have started off
by feeding it the most common edible mushrooms, which it ate after long examination. Thanean
offered it breadcrumbs, which he seemed to enojy alot more. Must not spoil him, tho, and must
name him. We met up Iris´ and Vic after an antagonizing walk through the crowded city, during
which i noticed an ugly black-feathered raven, sitting on a branch. It wouldn´t have caught my
attention if it didnt seem to stare into me. It´s look pierced through my eyes, which is uncommon
with most ravens i´ve met. I thought it to maybe be a different species from the ones who live in
the Swamp, but Thanean insisted we find a safer place to talk about it. So we pressed through
the masses, and eventually found an inn. While others stood in awe of two skeletons running a
bar, having a common tongue with them i asked them for a round of ale.
Entry 4
It seems i had another one of those memory losses, because the next moment i found myself in
the same bar, sitting at a table, sobering up from Cordyceps, while the bard was loudly insisting
"TO THE BOOKSHOP". In the midst of my recovery, i failed to understand there was another who
had joined us, a friend of the three - a magnificent, thick-furred, cat-like creature one would call
Tabaxi. Such grace in his walk, such agile feet, his fur glances back at the sunshine as it´s by far
the most well caressed appearance in these crowdy streets. I did my best to keep up, while
stalking the tiger and examining his physical features, as they rushed to a bookshop Iris claimed
to own. Still feeling hazy from the Cordyceps, i think i saw a lady running out of the store, and as
she crossed the door, the books turned to flames inbetween her hands. Iris was kind enough to
sell me a book on the grimmlock clan, written by some adventures. It carrys basic overview of
their physical apperances, their strenghts, weaknesses and some general historic facts. As we
made our way to the back through the crowded city, a small girl jumped over Thanean, stealing a
coin from his palm that Dama´Tos had just put there. Upon discovering that he is also missing a
book, Thanean took off after the girl, while the four of us ran after him. Right before leaping
through the entrance to a sewer, the masked one they call Vi for short skillfully put the girl to
sleep. Altho not sure, i think he did so by using only words. He woke the girl up from this
mysterious sleep effect, who then tried to grab an amulet off the dwarfs neck, who had naively
leaned too close to the thief. After numerous attempts from the dwarf to resolve this with
generous words, she declined with aggressive swings with her dagger, and after nature helping
me to entangle her body, that little trecherous beast cut through my vines and branches, which
in reverse affected my right leg, cutting into it. The beastlike girl managed to escape to the
corner of a street and dissapear into the shadow, where another half-orc appeared. This time in
full armor, muscular body build and threatening yet calm look in her eyes. Thanean asked nicely,
which naturally didnt help. He threw himself into battle, using his trusty warhammer to taking a
massive swing at the half-orc guardian. He is a brave man, going up against a beastlike, twice his
size. I lashed my vines and branches at our opponent, trapping her between, creating a thorn
whip to pull her closer so i could let my toxins take her mind. Yet again, i failed as she managed
to, after getting whipped, crawl through the branches. Another of her kin appeared, to who Iris
decided to decive friendship on, asking once again for the stolen book. I was couldn´t belive my
eyes - it actually worked! Seeing how mad the half-orc had gotten, i was sure she didnt want us
to leave alive. Thanean, being a good person as he is, told her to we would back off. I tried
intimidating her by revealing the most toxic fungi on the back of my shoulder, but i dont think
she knew the lethalness of the sortiment. She would´ve suffered in an immobile state for days, if
not weeks. Then again, the spear she had seemed to be well honed and razor sharp. If it pierced
through me, what would be the fate of my entire circle, if i should fail my mission at branch?
After a tense mental standoff, i gave in and backed off. She let us leave, accompanied by a laugh
that sounded a hint of proudness in it. This event only gave strength to my belief in the kindness
of the dwarf. He seems to have a good heart. I think the tiger learned from what had happened
and decided to sell his books and other valuables they had gathered over time. While they
traded and discussed over prices, i couldnt take my eyes off the tiger. The hind legs seemed
longer than their front legs. I think this characteristic enables them to leap forward in long
distances. The front legs looked so incredibly strong and dense, probably for the large
musculature it carrys, which i know they use to take down large prey, while their padded feet
enable them to silently stalk prey. The claws the exceptional beast had look curved, enabling him
to superiorly grasp and hold large prey and climb trees head-first. And did i mention he can
stand and walk on two legs only?! What a beast of balance! Looking at the amount they had
been carrying with them, it looks like i am in safe company, altho the masked one does concern
me. He seems highly knowledgeable, well-read, and he knows it. Im hesitated to find out the
origin of his power, as it may be harmful for nature and natural life. We eventually returned to
the Pirate Inn to end our advetorous day, where i tried to make the funny wooden instrument
work, which my mother insisted me to have with me. I dont know what she thought, it´s not like
a melody can help me from... (the ink falls in a narrow line from the letter m, and the rest of the
page is blank)
(In the mid-section of the book, there are endless lists of different number with effects written
after them, and also drawn pictures of different fungi)
