THE SHEPHERD'S VOICE

Luke 1:15 There was in

king of Judea, a certain
priest named Zacharias,

around 3 B.C. The Jews
traced their ancestry
back to one of Jacob's twelve sons. Zechariah
was from the tribe of Levi, the same tribe as
Moses and Aaron. Elizabeth was thought to
be barren. Her and Zechariah had prayed for
years for a child. Zechariah was chosen to
burn incense in the temple. His lot was
chosen out of 144,000 priest. It was a great
honor. While he was in the temple an angel
appeared to him. Zacharias was troubled.
Luke 1:13 But the angel said unto him, Fear
not, Zacharias for thy prayer is heard; and thy
wife Elizabeth shalt bear thee a son, and thou
shalt call his name John.
Zacharias did not respond in gratitude. He
said that he was too old to have a child.
The angel was not pleased with Zacharias.
His speech was taken from him until after
John was born.
John the Baptist served as a forerunner of
Jesus Christ. John prepared the people's
hearts to seek God.
Elizabeth was a mentor for Mary. John was
filled with the Holy Ghost from the womb.
He was six months older than Jesus.
John and Jesus grew up together. John
baptized Jesus when they were about thirty
years old. Jesus began his ministry at this

people.

circumstance where everyone else saw only despair and defeatism.
President Roosevelt had chosen the right man for the right job. We desperately needed a
leader that could see silver linings in the midst of the clouds of dejection, despair and
defeat.
There is a reason that our national motto is, “IN GOD WE TRUST”.
Why have we forgotten? PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY! In God we trust!
