Waste Becomes Wealth with
the ‘World’s Largest T-shirt’

R
ecycling wastes
into new and
useful products
is one of the oldest,
yet the least practiced
of all the innovations.
But, PLASTINDIA 2018
showcased another level
of reprocessing all the dry
wastes into the ‘World’s
Largest T-shirt’. Atul
Kanuga, Chairman, PIF
Environment Committee
voiced, “It is extremely
necessary for the world,
our world to learn the
segregation of waste for
promoting sustainability
of the environment.
Therefore, in order to
render an everlasting
impact on the citizens,
we recycled 2 lakh
bottles of PET water and
fabricated a t-shirt (100 m
in length and 70 m in
width).” There were 300
labourers appointed and
the idea was successfully
conceived by distributing
7000 t-shirts made out from the big one to the underprivileged kids. Atul
Kanuga, with excitement, revealed, “We also found space in the Guinness
Book of World Records.”

T

proficiency in processing of plastics. Considering it to be the first day
of the event, the exhibitors were busy in building up their stalls and
prepping up to fortify their relationships with the international and domestic

buyers. Caught up in the formation, Nilesh Parsania, Director, Hero Plastics

Do you see its complexity as an opportunity?
Polymer compounds of today are extremely complex and challenging.
Technological advancements are shaping the demand pattern and expectations
of our customers as well. Availability of new technologies and new raw materials
are further adding to the complexities.
These complexities and challenges are a great opportunity as well. We see
these complexities and challenges as an entry barrier and also a differentiator.
We are taking full advantage of the opportunity offered by these complexities

standards to be able to make end products from them with top
surface quality and particularly high recyclate content.
Practical experiences reveal that recyclers who use recycled pellets
from regrind have to be able to rely on their end products having
top surface quality. Success lies in developing a plant system which
is designed exactly for these thick-walled materials, as it envisages
extremely gentle processing and highly efficient filtration, to enable
the recycling of regrind into application-oriented secondary raw
materials. Available recycling technologies well suffice the requisites
of inhouse, industrial and post-consumer waste management.
Ideally, the machine has to deliver high-performance; like an absolute
all-rounder for thick-walled plastics recycling. As a feature, highly
flexible, strong in performance and of course energy-saving, apart
from it being extremely easy to operate and maintain.

PVC Foam Boards

and Profiles: Indian
Industry Overview
T
he market for PVC foam boards is increasing rapidly in India. In India,
it has market growth of approximately 20%. In immediate future, it
is going to replace wood in many applications. Approximately 33%
of new buildings have furniture made by PVC instead of wood. PVC is a
potential packaging material as a replacement of wood.
Major advantage of articles made from PVC is its splinter free, smooth
and scratch resistant surface. PVC surfaces have glossy finish, low water
absorption and are easily printable. The claddings made using foam
boards also work as sound and heat insulation. PVC foam boards are
broadly appreciated for its light weight and longer durability.

Goldstab Organics Pvt. Ltd. has

invested time and resources in
developing best suited products for
different applications of foam board.
Today, as a result of these consistent
efforts, are at a stage where they
confidently offer a wide range of one
pack stabiliser systems for foam board

and profile applications with each
product having specific characteristics. These formulations were
developed to give maximum performance at optimum price to
meet specific requirements of customers. Today, Goldstab Organics
supply stabilisers and kickers to a large number of profile and
foam board manufacturers and has a significant market share in
the industry.

Fabrication of foam boards is effortless. It can be cut and handled with

equal ease and also have a versatile surface which can be easily laminated,
engraved, milled, embossed, printed and painted as per the different
needs and requirements of customers. PVC foam boards can also be
drilled, screwed, nailed, heat folded and bonded. Hence, they are used
in all applications where customers are using ordinary plywood, marine
ply, MDF, particle boards etc.
These boards can be bent easily to form different shapes and can
be used for applications that require features such as no swelling,
no shrinking and waterproof properties. PVC foam boards have
inbuilt fire-retardant properties, anti-termite, anti-pest properties,
weathering and ageing resistance. Also, due to its good durability,
these boards are maintenance free. These articles can last for over
50 years.
Lightweight board of rigid foam (unplasticised PVC or u-PVC) are at 50%
or lesser weight of rigid PVC. These boards have a homogenous cellular
core with matt and closed cell surface finish. The unparalleled ease of
processing and their unique resistance to weathering render them ideal
for outdoor applications as well as for manufacturing indoor furniture
and decorative materials.
