RIZAL’S MOVIE REACTION PAPER by Barrientos

Cesar Montano

The movie film “Jose Rizal” which is portrayed by Mr. Cesar Montano as a primary actor was
excellently played the lead role that shows how Jose Rizal runs his noble life in Dapitan. Cesar’s
values and great performance althroughtout the movie is ideal and has a great impact as a
watcher on the said film.

It is shown in the movie how Jose Rizal fight for the freedom of the Filipinos on Spaniards
colonialism. He is a writer of his well known novels el filibusterismo and noli me tangere which
he tells the Filipinos how to stand up with there own hands and fight of there own freedom. Later
on in that movie the Spanish Government in the Philippines finds out that Jose Rizal is the
mastermind of that writings against them. Jose Rizal went in prison but he did not surrender in
writing every time his family visits him he past the letter he wrote to his mother. Then her mother
gave the letter to the General of the Military in the Philippines Andres Bonifacio characterize by
Joel Torre. Later on the count of the Spaniards give Jose Rizal a dead penalty a firing squad.
The life of Jose Rizal ends that way but this story tells how did the National Hero fight in using of
his writings. Later on after his death. The Spaniards surrender and give back the freedom to the
Filipinos.

I particularly love the last scene the day he was executed, Rizal fell in the ground facing the sky,
having his last breath look at a beautiful surprise. And it only shows that Rizal did not die in vain.
His death was just the beginning of everything we aim to face the Spaniards who made us
suffer.

Cesar Montano's dedication for the movie was inevitable which he is very perfect for the role. If
someone would ask me to recommend a film of Rizal i will say it is “Jose Rizal” which is played
by Cesar Montano.

Rizal sa Dapitan Movie Review by Arnillo

Jose Rizal as Albert Martinez

Being exiled from Dapitan because he was allegedly involved in revolutionizing from the
tyrant government of Spain through his published books Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo,
Jose Rizal who stayed in Dapitan did not only make his stay worthwhile through certain
activities in cultivating his own bought farm, but also taught students who were unable to learn
due to their poor status and inspired their parents and gave them hope for a brighter future that
awaits their children. Jose Rizal shared his knowledge to the children; he also taught them how
to speak foreign languages, fencing and also his experiences in life. The national hero had
served for the resident as a doctor and made free consultations for curing. Also, while in
Dapitan Jose Rizal met his girlfriend Josephine Bracken when her father was looking for Jose
Rizal to cure his eye illness but unfortunately it was already un-curable. They fell in love from
each other and got Josephine Bracken pregnant, they weren’t married because the friar told
Rizal that he wasn’t a Christian and he is supposed to return in Christianity for him to be able to.
While Josephine was carrying Rizal’s son in her womb, his sister told him about the possibility of
Josephine being a spy that was sent by the Spanish government and confronted his girlfriend
about it.
Moreover, it was unfortunate for Rizal and Josephine when the child died after its
delivery for two hours and named their son Francisco, in honor of Jose Rizal’s father. One time,
a man visited Rizal in Dapitan and tried to talk him out encouraging him for any certain news
about revolutionizing but he declined and figured out that the friars sent an assassin to kill him
but it ran away. Rizal took his time in Dapitan and made each day as productive as he can. His
request to be send to Cuba was granted after a year later when he already settled his stay in
Dapitan, but got convinced by his sister to go and accept it. But as stated in the end of the
movie, Jose Rizal was unable to arrive in Cuba because he got captured in Spain and been
repatriated to Philippines and was signed a death warrant and found guilty. He was executed at
Bagumbayan on the 30th of December 1897.
Jose Rizal died with his legacy of enlightening his countrymen of how the friars and the
Spanish Government treated us during their colonialism period.
