I don’t know if you experience following somebody that later on you discovered the doesn’t know where’s he’s
g0ing also
 We experience that already because we wanted to avoid the traffic we followed a car that entered a
certain road but at the end, both of us discovered it’s a dead-end
 In social media, your popularity is based on the numbers of followers
 In Instagram-there’s a Queen
 In Facebook there’s also a King
 If you really follow these people-where are you headed?
 The bible warns us of just following
 Matthew 15:14 Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into
a pit.”
 Who you follow directs your life
 Everyone follows someone or something
 The question is, who are you following?
 Who do you follow?
 Is it a favourite columnist, author, actor/actress, FB friends, musician or politician
 It is not surprising someone desperately wants you to follow Him!

FOLLOWING GOD IS THE DESIRE OF GOD

Matthew 4.18-22 -Jesus Calls His First Disciples
18As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother
Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 18“Come, follow me,” Jesus
said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him. 21Going on
from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with
their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their
father and followed him.

GOD CALLS PEOPLE TO FOLLOW HIM

1. Jesus personally calls His first group of followers
The calling of the disciples also meant calling for salvation and service
There are different ways of God’s calling, depending in the openness or receptivity of the person!

Different ways of calling:

 Conversational
 Confrontational
 Circumstantial (tragedy)

A. Conversational
Jesus just talks and converse with his first prospects-18As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw
two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were
fishermen. 18“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
B. Confrontational
 Saul later on became Paul Acts 9
 Saul became paranoid of killing, persecuting and putting in prison the Christians
 He was unstoppable on his insanity
 Balaam was rebuked by an animal because his ways are not right

C. Circumstantial
1. Sickness
2. Bankruptcy
3. Accident
4. Financial breakdown

Circumstantial
 Sickness
 There was a big problem either personal or your family or related to you
 Tragedy
 Financial break down
 Frustration
Deuteronomy 28.1-68

THE RESULT OF FAITH/ BUNGA NG PANANALIG

Matthew 4.19-Come, follow me!
 This is a call for salvation and obedience
 Prior to the calling Jesus is already preaching repentance and faith 4.17
 So peter and his group already heard about salvation!
 Immediately after the call-they left their boat and net
 Following is not optional
First of all, this is a personal invitation, which requires a personal response. “Follow me,” is an invitation to a
personal relationship with Jesus and it requires you to take action. “Follow” means, “Come after Me.”
Be My follower. Put your future in My hands. He is going to lead from that day forward.

It means to give Him the highest priority as the supreme relationship of life out of which every other
relationship and activity is defined and directed. It means putting Him at the center. Following Jesus is giving
Him the lead, learning from Him, and serving Him

Following Jesus comes after believing in Jesus. Those who believe in Christ do indeed follow Him. There is no
such thing in the Bible as a believer who doesn't follow Christ. You will of course find believers in Scripture who
have become entangled in sin, but you also find God working in those situations to correct the problem and
lead the believer to repent of those errors. Jesus never calls a person to "only believe," but not obey. The apostle
Paul wrote about "the obedience that comes from faith." (Romans 1:5) Once you believe in Jesus as you Savior,
you immediately begin to obey Him.
 Man naturally is a rebel of God
 We usually obey ourself and sin

THE PROOF OF LOVE/PATUNAY NG PAG-IBIG

John 15.10-10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s
commands and remain in his love

John 14.15“If you love me, you will obey what I command
