Good

  morning
  everyone.
  My
  name
  is
  Keiser

Wilhelm
  the
  second
  and
  I
  was
  born
  as
  a
  Prince
  and

then
  I
  became
  the
  emperor
  of
  German
  and
  king
  of

Prussia
  during
  the
  era
  from
  1888
  to
  1918.
  I
  was

born
  in
  Potsdam,
  Germany,
  on
  January
  27,1859.

My
  father
  was
  Prince
  Frederick
  Wilhelm
  of
  Prussia

and
  my
  beloved
  mother
  was
  Princess
  Victoria
  of

England.
  Frankly,
  my
  relationship
  with
  both
  of
  my

parents
  were
  pretty
  strange
  and
  complicated,

especially
  with
  my
  mother
  who
  I
  tried
  so
  hard
  to

win
  her
  love,
  but
  when
  my
  attempt
  became
  a

failure.
  I
  decided
  to
  turn
  away
  from
  her
  and
  from

Britain.
  Some
  has
  said
  that
  my
  relationship
  with
  my

mother
  was
  abnormal
  and
  more
  than
  just
  a
  son
  and

mother
  relationship.
  because
  of
  that,
  I
  personally

believed
  that
  this
  relationship
  issue
  strongly
  had

affected
  my
  behaviours
  and
  decisions
  in
  the
  future

and
  my
  perspective
  for
  Britain.
  However,
  I
  had
  a

great
  relationship
  and
  was
  very
  fond
  to
  my

grandmother,
  Queen
  Victoria
  of
  England.

   Even
  though,
  I
  was
  lucky
  enough
  to
  be
  born
  in

a
  royal
  family.
  My
  birth
  had
  been
  traumatic.
  During

the
  birth
  process,
  the
  British
  doctor
  permanently

damaged
  my
  left
  arm.
  I
  was
  born
  with
  the
  paralysed

and
  smaller
  left
  arm.
  My
  left
  arm
  was
  useless
  for

even
  the
  ordinary
  tasks
  such
  as
  cutting
  certain

foods
  with
  a
  knife
  at
  mealtime.
  After
  that,
  in
  1892,

My
  beloved
  father
  got
  very
  ill
  with
  throat
  cancer

and
  he
  eventually
  passed
  away
  because
  the
  British

doctor
  failed
  to
  save
  him,
  again.
  Since
  then,
  the

hatred
  of
  British
  had
  rooted
  deeply
  in
  myself.

Later
  on,
  in
  1871,
  when
  I
  was
  12
  years-old,
  I
  was

already
  the
  second
  in
  line
  after
  my
  father
  to

become
  an
  emperor
  of
  Prussia.
  I
  was
  so
  filled
  and

motivated
  with
  nationalistic
  enthusiasm.
  My

determination
  to
  win
  a
  “place
  in
  the
  sun”
  for

Germany
  (
  refer
  to
  Germany’s
  foreign
  policy
  and

colonial
  empire)
  had
  always
  been
  rooted
  since
  I
  was

born.

Here
  it
  came.
  As
  I
  was
  a
  very
  good
  friend
  of

Archduke
  Franz
  Ferdinand
  of
  Austria,
  and
  he
  was

deeply
  shocked
  by
  his
  assassination
  on
  28
  June

1914.
  So
  I
  decided
  right
  away
  to
  offer
  the
  support

for
  Austria-Hungary
  in
  crushing
  the
  Black
  Hand,
  the

secret
  organization
  that
  had
  plotted
  the
  killing.

When
  the
  Austro-Hungarian
  ultimatum
  was

delivered
  to
  Serbia,
  I
  hurried
  back
  to
  Berlin
  on
  28

July
  to
  receive
  the
  document
  stating
  that
  Russia

would
  not
  cancel
  its
  mobilization,
  so
  I
  wrote
  a

lengthy
  commentary
  containing
  these
  observations:

...For
  I
  no
  longer
  have
  any
  doubt
  that
  England,

Russia
  and
  France
  have
  agreed
  among
  themselves—―
knowing
  that
  our
  treaty
  obligations
  compel
  us
  to

support
  Austria—―to
  use
  the
  Austro-Serb
  conflict
  as

a
  pretext
  for
  waging
  a
  war
  of
  annihilation
  against

us...
  Our
  dilemma
  over
  keeping
  faith
  with
  the
  old

and
  honourable
  Emperor
  has
  been
  exploited
  to

create
  a
  situation
  which
  gives
  England
  the
  excuse

she
  has
  been
  seeking
  to
  annihilate
  us
  with
  a

spurious
  appearance
  of
  justice
  on
  the
  pretext
  that

she
  is
  helping
  France
  and
  maintaining
  the
  well-
known
  Balance
  of
  Power
  in
  Europe,
  i.e.,
  playing
  off

all
  European
  States
  for
  her
  own
  benefit
  against
  us.

I
  declared,
  "Ruthlessness
  and
  weakness
  will
  start
  the

most
  terrifying
  war
  of
  the
  world,
  whose
  purpose
  is

to
  destroy
  Germany.
  Because
  there
  can
  no
  longer

be
  any
  doubts,
  England,
  France
  and
  Russia
  have

conspired
  themselves
  together
  to
  fight
  an

annihilation
  war
  against
  us”.

It
  was
  still
  controversial
  whether
  that
  I
  had
  been

broken
  psychologically
  by
  the
  criticism
  that
  followed

after
  the
  inappropriate
  act
  which
  dramatically

damaged
  his
  political
  position.
  I
  ended
  up
  suffering

an
  episode
  of
  depression
  in
  1908.
  In
  addition,
  the
  I

was
  out
  of
  touch
  with
  the
  realities
  of
  international

politics
  in
  1914;
  I
  thought
  that
  my
  blood

relationships
  to
  other
  European
  monarchs
  were

sufficient
  to
  manage
  the
  crisis
  that
  followed
  after

the
  assassination
  of
  my
  friend
  Franz
  Ferdinand
  in

Sarajevo,
  Bosnia.
  Although
  I
  signed
  the
  order
  for

German
  mobilization
  following
  pressure
  from
  my

generals.
  Germany
  declared
  war
  against
  Russia
  and

France
  during
  the
  first
  week
  of
  August
  1914
  and
  I

stated,
  “You
  will
  regret
  this,
  gentlemen.”

With
  World
  War
  I
  under
  way,
  me
  myself,
  as

commander
  in
  chief
  of
  the
  German
  armed
  forces,

retained
  the
  power
  to
  make
  upper-level
  changes
  in

military
  command.
  Nonetheless,
  I
  was
  practically
  a

shadow
  monarch
  during
  the
  war,
  useful
  to
  my

generals
  as
  a
  public-relations
  figure
  who
  toured
  the

front
  lines
  and
  handed
  out
  medals.
  After
  1916,

Germany
  was
  a
  military
  dictatorship
  dominated
  by

two
  generals,
  Paul
  von
  Hindenburg
  and
  Erich

Ludendorff.
  On
  November
  9th,1918
  I
  decided
  to

announce
  the
  abdication
  of
  the
  emperor
  and
  fled

to
  Netherland
  and
  remained
  neutral
  till
  the
  end
  of

my
  life.
  Even
  though
  I
  ended
  up
  peacefully
  on
  my

own,
  in
  overall,
  I
  had
  led
  many
  wars
  and
  conflicts
  to

begin
  which
  created
  huge
  effect
  on
  everyone.
  If
  I

never
  existed,
  there
  could
  have
  been
  the
  enormous

change
  and
  all
  of
  this
  wouldn’t
  have
  happened
  and

there
  might
  not
  even
  be
  WW1
  in
  the
  history.

To
  mention
  the
  Treaty
  of
  Versailles,
  the
  treaty
  had
  a

great
  political
  impact
  on
  Germany
  and
  me
  myself.

One
  of
  the
  conditions
  in
  the
  treaty
  was
  stated
  that
  I

be
  formally
  tried.
  However,
  that
  condition
  was

impossible
  because
  I
  abdicated
  the
  throne
  already

and
  was
  currently
  in
  Netherland
  who
  refused
  to

surrender
  me.
  Although
  this
  was
  a
  good
  news
  for

me,
  it
  made
  it
  impossible
  for
  Germany
  to
  restore

their
  monarchy,
  whose
  continuation
  depended
  on

me
  to
  pass
  my
  power
  over
  to
  my
  son.
  The
  treaty

isolated
  the
  country
  and
  made
  it
  an
  outcast
  to

international
  policies.
  The
  German
  government

found
  itself
  in
  an
  impossible
  situation
  under
  the

harsh
  conditions
  of
  the
  treaty.
  The
  people
  of

Germany
  turned
  their
  back
  on
  the
  government
  and

accused
  them
  of
  betraying
  Germany
  because
  they

surrendered
  to
  the
  Allied
  forces.
  As
  a
  result
  new

political
  groups
  and
  revolts
  were
  being
  to
  form
  in

Germany.
  A
  party
  known
  as
  the
  German
  Workers’

Party
  formed.
  A
  young
  German
  soldier
  named
  Adolf

Hitler
  would
  join
  this
  party
  and
  rename
  its
  Nazi

Party
  and
  the
  next
  World
  War
  would
  follow
  soon

after
  that.

During
  World
  War
  1,
  Germany
  was
  a
  federal

monarchy.
  However,
  the
  government
  was
  turned

into
  a
  fascist
  government
  by
  a
  fascist
  group
  in

Germany
  called
  the
  Nazi's.
  As
  the
  country
  was

struggling
  with
  the
  effect
  of
  WW1
  and
  was
  in

extreme
  debt.
  It
  was
  actually
  my
  responsibility
  to

pay
  off
  this
  debt.
  But
  the
  Nazi's
  had
  a
  different
  idea

leading
  to
  their
  take
  over
  of
  the
  German

government.
  Hitler,
  the
  nominated
  leader
  by
  the

fascist
  group,
  offered
  jobs
  and
  the
  rebuilding
  of
  the

economy
  and
  the
  cities.
  This
  fascist
  government

lead
  to
  Hitler's
  rise
  of
  power
  and
  need
  for
  complete

control.
  He
  created
  a
  system
  of
  laws
  in
  order
  to

create
  his
  "perfect"
  society.
  and
  that
  was
  when
  the

rise
  of
  Facism
  occurred.
