If in case of a backflow the sewers rise above permissible pipe filling
height, the pressure sensor sends a signal to the control device. The
control triggers the closing of the valve flap by means of an electric
motor. During backflow period, the connected drainage objects may not
be used. If backflow situation eases up, this is noticed by the control
and the flap is opened automatically. Backflow is signalled by a visual
and an audible signal (fig. 2). In the case of mains failure, an integrated
battery keeps up operational readiness up to 24 hours.
Fig . 2
The emergency seal serves as an additional safety. With the help of this
seal, the second flap can be manually locked (fig. 3). It is of essential
importance that the emergency seal is re-opened after e.g. return from
holidays.

5. If the pipe is laid along a wall, two pipe mountings have to be fitted
around the pipe shortly before and shortly behind the anti-flood pro-
tection system and to be fixed to the wall. For proper operation, the
emergency seal and the operating seal must be open (lever position

Fit sealing flange (art. no. 620382) against pressurised water to
intermediate section. In order to keep excess or shortage at a
minimum, the sealing flange can be fitted stepwise to the various
grooves (for height-adjustability of flange, refer to drawing on page

has to be fitted to top section (core bit diameter: 50 mm). Das The
blank cable duct has to be laid with a gradient to the backflow safe-
ty valve. Possible angles have to be carried out with elbows (elbows
<= 45°).
Fit top section to body and align to final height of finished floor level

2.1. Behaviour in case of battery fault 3.4 Battery warning
Establish mains connection and wait. Battery faults always occur With every run of the flap, the battery is checked. In case of a low bat-
with insufficient charging condition of the battery or with a dama- tery capacity, a warning signal is given (LED 4 flashes slowly). In this
ged battery fuse. case, the buzzer is not switched on. If this signal appears, the battery
should be exchanged promptly for safety reasons.
2.2 Motor fault in mains / battery operation

Batteries are subject to a natural ageing. In this case, the battery has to If the appliance is separated from the mains, it switches to battery ope-

The manufacturer recommends to exchange the battery prophylactically
after 5 years.
3. Fuses
3.1 Fuses
A microfuse is fitted to the circuit board to protect the micro-elec-
tronics of the control effectively against connection faults and occu-
ring faults.
Battery fuse
Fuse 1 protects the control against reverse polarity of the battery. If the
fuse responds, cabling has to be checked and a new fuse has to be
inserted.
The anti-flood protection system does not have any mains fuse in the
form of a safety fuse. One fuse is integrated in the primary circuit of
the mains transformer in the form of a thermal switch. In case of an
electronics defect, this switch opens after a short period when reaching
a temperature of 120°C. In this happens, the control is seriously dama-
ged. It must be handed on to the fitter / specialist contractor for repair.
1. Fit the control at the intended location. The control housing has to be
fixed with 2 bolts. In accordance with VDE regulation 0100, the control
is splash water and dripping water proof (IP 56) (fig. 27).
Caution!
The control device must be fitted in such a way that all signals are noti-
ced by the plant user. This ensures that in case of a closed valve the
appliance drained via the anti-flood protection system is not used. The
manufacturer is not liable for self-inflicted backflow damages.
2. Cabling
If both buttons are operated at the same time for 5 seconds, all
light-emitting diodes flash simultaneously before the appliance swit-
ches off.
1. Commissioning
Commissioning can be compared to the switching on process. If the
green diode lights up after initialisation was completed, commissio-
ning is completed (fig. 30).
Fig. 30
2. Operational check
Control, operating seal flap and emergency seal flap have to be
checked for tightness and function.

mains operation.
8 Servicing
Caution!
No warranty claims accepted in the case of insufficient servicing!
The anti-flood protection system must be visually checked once a
month by the operator or an authorised person. For this, the valve flap
is opened and closed by pressing the test button. In addition, the emer-
gency seal lever is closed and re-opened several times manually.
Caution!
Close valve and emergency seal before cover is removed.
Valve flap: press test button once.

A maintenance contract covering regular maintenance is closed between the following undersigned parties.
Beginning of contract:
Product description:
Scope of supply: According to DIN EN 13564, anti-flood protection systems should be serviced twice a year by specialist per-
sonnel. During such servicing, all fittings have to be cleaned, moveability of backflow insert has to be checked
and defective parts, if any, must be exchanged (at extra charge and working time).
Dates: Appointment is suggested by consignee. If in a special case, the consignee cannot keep this maintenance
date agreed upon, this does not result in any right to claim by the ordering party. However, the ordering party
must be informed about this deadline shift by the consignee.
Contract duration: This maintenance contract is closed for an indefinite time. It is prolonged by each one year if it not terminated
in writing three months prior to year’s end.
Duties of the ordering party: For proper maintenance, the ordering party ensures accessibility of product and will not accept any delay in
carrying out the works.
Costs: For each half-yearly maintenance, the consignee charges an amount of ______ (plus VAT).
Invoice is issued after maintenance works were carried out. Spare parts possible required are charged extra.
