Dr. Adam Glover gives speech about learning foreign languages


Department of World Languages and Cultures event explains benefits of speaking another
language

Dr. Adam Glover, Spanish professor in Winthrop’s Department of World Languages and
Cultures (WLAC), will give a lecture on April 6 in Dina’s Place in the Digiorgio Student Center
at common time (11 a.m.). Glover’s speech is entitled: "Why language is the coolest thing we
do" and will focus on the professional and personal advantages of learning another language.

Glover has a B.A. in Spanish and Philosophy, and a M.A. and an Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies and
will explain the benefits of knowing a foreign language from his own experience. “Studying
Spanish was one of the best decisions of my life, both personally and professionally.” says
Glover.

This presentation will introduce students to the Department of World Languages and Cultures,
and present some of the advantages of learning a foreign language. Undecided students can
obtain informations to help in the selection of their majors and minors.

The Johnsonian is a newspaper written and read, mostly, by Winthrop students.The newspaper is
also read by faculty members.
The targets of this article are Winthrop students, interested by learning a foreign language and
who have not yet chosen a major or wish to take a minor. The student target, can be reach
through this journal, which is why it is relevant to publish our article in this newspaper.
