DAY ONE
JANUARY 12, 2018 │ THE CITY STARTUP DECK

To kick-off the event, the organizers handled a networking event at the City Hall Deck on January 12, 2018.
This intends for everyone (participants, speakers, facilitators) to get to know each other and be acquainted
with the event and to expand their networks and share viable and creative ideas that could be of tech
startup ventures.

Program commenced at around 6:30PM, with a prayer led by

Balanga Startup Forums’ member, Ms. Nelly Riza Salvador, singing
of the National Anthem, Ang Lupang Hinirang and Dugong
Balangueño, the Balanga City’s hymn.

Afterwards, Mr. Colentava remarked a welcome message, as well as some information about how this
night’s activity will flow. He then asked Ms. Ivy Michelle E. Habagat, BSF leader, to give a short message
to all the event’s spectators.

Ms. Ivy thanked everyone who attended and will be participating the
three-day workshop. She also introduced the VAC and the City’s vision
to them, and told the participants should they need assistance or
anything, they can ask for the VAC’s aid anytime.

Then, Ms. Rogerine Miguel, one of the speakers, rendered some message of gratitude and appreciation
for inviting her to be one of the speakers, and for the warm welcome she has experienced. She likewise
gave a short overview of herself such as about her company, the Guerilla Bags and Co. and mentioned
that the next day workshop will be permeated with fun-filled activities.
Next, Mr. Bj Banzon, a known and persistent supporter of
tech-related undertakings in the City, withal expressed
appreciation on the attendees’ active participation to this
event.

Lastly, Mr.Kirtham Dumpa delivered some grateful words

to the participants, the facilitators and told the rest that he
will be holding some negotiation exercises on the third day,
where the participants can practice conveying other people
to invest, etc. in their enterprise.

Afterwards, the participants played some game called BINGO – a get-to-know-each-other game where
the players should fill a BINGO slot where several characteristics/personalities where written on each
block. Participants should write one name on each block, and they should write a name only once. In order
for them to execute this, they have to ask everyone if such personality describes him/her. The first one to
fill all the blocks wins the game.

Then, as the game goes on, our City Mayor Hon.

Francis Anthony S. Garcia graced the event to
share inspirational messages as well as some
tidings of gratitude for the participants and
facilitators.

The City Mayor, in his speech, mentioned about

some technologies that the world is now using,
and challenged the participants as well as Mark
and his team to think and to create the same
inventions or some original ones that could be
the next known gizmos. Among the innovation
he had touched on is the AirTable app, which
he believes to be expensive and yet has not
been very efficient.

Then, after the Mayor’s keynote, each participant was asked

to ideate solutions to societal problems that they wish to
resolve. A paper was handed to them where they can write
such, and later pitch these to others.
Among the ideas they have formulated and pitched in were the following:

1. PasaBat
- A mobile app where we can share phone battery charge to other phones.

2. Shoe Sole Power Generator

- Through shoe soles, powers can be generated and used. The more the user walks, the
more the sole generator produce energy which can be later used as power source.

3. Biomass
- Biological wastes like animal manure will be converted into energy source, and could be
a replacement for LPG, diesel, etc.

4. Easy Travel App

- An app that can track buses and other public vehicles, thus can be used to monitor public
transport terminals activities as well.

5. Bataan Bentahan Website

- The known Bataan Bentahan Facebook group will be relocated and be given a website
domain.

6. Buddha Application
- Similar to WAZE, however this is more for the tourists that they can see the best local
tourist spots available in a certain area.

7. TaraVan
- Hopes to serve as a portal where travelers of the same destination can meet.

8. NutriBox
- A device that could detect the nutrient component of the soil, thus eliminating the need
for too much fertilizers, specifically synthetic ones.

9. E-Pharmacy
- An app where a patient/consumer can locate the drugstores, order them online and
monitor the progress of their medication over time.

10. Queueing App for Government Transaction

- Aims to resolve queueing dilemmas in the Government.

11. In-House Leisure App

- An app where you can purchase in-house leisure equipment/supplies online such as
hammocks.

12. Food Cash

- Instead of animal wastes of the Biomass group, Food Cash hopes to collect leftover foods
from restaurants/eateries and convert them into energy-giving resources.
As an ender of this first day activity, participants were asked to write their names on the posted papers
where the list of these ideas were written. A participant can only write his name thrice, meaning they can
choose three ideas only. Afterwards, Mark and his team will decide on whoever each will be teamed up
with. Groups will be announced the following day.
