And now, Live from the Melati Theatre (Orchestration Music)
Please welcome your hosts for tonight! Both Tony Awards Never-Winners
(chuckles)
…. & ….
(Orchestra Music)

HOST 1
You know, that wasn’t the nicest introduction.

HOST 2
I know! Why do they make fun of people who never won an award, and
still hire them to host an award?

HOST 1
That’s because we come cheap. Ah Hello!
Welcome everyone! Welcome to the Tony Awards!
(Applause) I Know! Everyone wants an award! I understand!

HOST 2
Hey, let me ask you a question, why would you like an award?

HOST 1
(Play music “Popular” from – Wicked)
Because, I would like to be Popular, I want to be Popular!

HOST 2
Ah, from the musical Wicked! Did you know it’s been on Broadway for
over 10 years, with more than 5000 shows? And it’s still very…
Popular!

HOST 1
Yea, that’s enough of Wicked. It won’t beat The Phantom of The Opera,
the longest running show on Broadway, with more than 11,000
performances since its start. And we have a lot of performances
tonight as well! You’ll witness acts from A Chorus Line, Matilda The
Musical, the incredible Dear Evan Hansen.

HOST 2
The first performance of this night features breathtaking choreography
and hip hop music. The story of Alexander Hamilton (Music Plays), one
of the founding fathers of the United States, was made into a musical
by the genius composer Lin-Manuel Miranda. The album won the Grammy
Award for Best Musical Theatre Album. Introducing the beginning of

Alexander Hamilton (HAMILTON)

AARON BURR
How does a scoundrel, orphan, son of a woman and a
Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten
Spot in the Caribbean by Providence, impoverished, in squalor
Grow up to be a hero and a scholar?

JOHN LAURENS
The ten-dollar Founding Father without a father
Got a lot farther by workin’ a lot harder
By bein’ a lot smarter
By bein’ a self-starter
By fourteen, they placed him in charge of a trading charter

JAMES MADISON
Then a hurricane came, and devastation reigned
Our man saw his future drip, drippin’ down the drain
Put a pencil to his temple, connected it to his brain
And he wrote his first refrain, a testament to his pain

BURR
Well the word got around, they said, “This kid is insane, man!”
Took up a collection just to send him to the mainland
“Get your education, don’t forget from whence you came, and
The world’s gonna know your name! What’s your name, man?"

ALEXANDER HAMILTON
Alexander Hamilton
My name is Alexander Hamilton
And there’s a million things I haven’t done
But just you wait, just you wait

ELIZA HAMILTON
When he was ten, his father split, full of it, debt-ridden
Two years later, see Alex and his mother, bed-ridden
Half-dead, sittin’ in their own sick
The scent thick

COMPANY
And Alex got better but his mother went quick

Will they know you rewrote the game?
The world will never be the same, oh

Another immigrant comin’ up from the bottom

His enemies destroyed his rep, America forgot him

Presenter 1
Good Evening! The following musical got the Drama League Awards, and
was nominated for 9 Tony Awards this year. A letter that was never
meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he
never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing
he’s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. Both deeply personal
and profoundly contemporary, Dear Evan Hansen is a new American
musical about life and the way we live it. Please welcome the company
of Dear Evan Hansen

Waving Through A Window (DEAR EVAN HANSEN)

EVAN
I've learned to slam on the brake
Before I even turn the key
Before I make the mistake
Before I lead with the worst of me

Give them no reason to stare

No slipping up if you slip away
So I got nothing to share
No, I got nothing to say

Step out, step out of the sun

If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned

On the outside, always looking in

Will I ever be more than I've always been?

6
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
I'm waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
I'm waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?

We start with stars in our eyes

We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong

Step out, step out of the sun

If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned

On the outside, always looking in

Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving?

When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around

Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
It's like I never made a sound
Will I ever make a sound?

On the outside, always looking in

Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window

7
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?

Is anybody waving?
Waving, waving...

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Miserables is an epic and
uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. The masterful
score of Les Miserables includes the classic songs “I Dreamed a
Dream,” “On My Own,“Bring Him Home,” and many more. Please welcome the
company of Les Miserables, performing Little People.

Little People (LES MISERABLES)

GAVROCHE
They laugh at me, these fellas,
Just because I am small
They laugh at me because I'm not hundred feet tall!
I tell 'em there's aot to learn down here on the ground
The world is big, but little people turn it around!

A worm can roll a stone

A bee can sting a bear
A fly can fly around Versailles
'Cos flies don't care!
A sparrow in a hut
Can make a happy home
A flea can bite the bottom
Of the Pope in Rome!

Gaoliath was a buiser who was tall as the sky.

But David threw a right and gave him one in the eye.
I never read the Bible but I know that it's true
It only goes to show what little people can do!

ALL
A worm can roll a stone
A bee can sting a bear
A fly can fly around Versailles
'Cos flies don't care!
A sparrow in a hut
Can make a happy home
A flea can bite the bottom
Of the Pope in Rome!

GAVROCHE
So listen here professor,
With your head in the cloud.

9
It's often kind of useful
To get lost in the crowd.
So keep your universities
I don't really care
For better or for worse it is
The way that I am!

Be careful where you go

'Cos little people grow...

And little people know

When little people fight
We may look easy pickings but we got some bite!
So never kick a dog because he's just a pup
You better run for cover when the pup grows up!

And we'll fight like twenty armies

And we won't give up

ALL
A worm can roll a stone
A bee can sting a bear
A fly can fly around Versailles
'Cos flies don't care!
A sparrow in a hut
Can make a happy home
A flea can bite the bottom
Of the Pope in Rome!

HOST 2
Fantastic performance!! I’ll tell you about this next show: A Chorus
Line. The great dance/choreographer, Michael Bennett gathered these
dancers and decided to audio record stories of their lives. The genius
Michael Bennett then turned these stories into one musical.

HOST 1
Yes, he is a genius! This musical was composed by Marvin Hamlisch.

HOST 2
Winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical and the Pulitzer
Prize for Drama, this singular sensation makes audiences a part of
Broadway’s most legendary musical audition. For 17 dancers, joining
“the line” is the opportunity of a lifetime–but only eight will make
the cut. Who are you pulling for?

What I did for love (A CHORUS LINE)
DIANA
Kiss today goodbye,
The sweetness and the sorrow.
Wish me luck, the same to you.
But I can't regret
What I did for love, what I did for love.
Look my eyes are dry.
The gift was ours to borrow.
It's as if we always knew,
And I won't forget what I did for love,
What I did for love.

Gone,
Love is never gone.
As we travel on,
Love's what we'll remember.
Kiss today goodbye,
And point me t'ward tomorrow.
We did what we had to do.
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for Love

Sorry! The Little Mermaid (Siri Voice).

Actor 1
You know, Cinderella and the Little Mermaid are completely different
persons. And I would love to play Cinderella.
Next! A musical set in New York City in the 1940’s. This was pulled
directly from the pages of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the musical
takes place on New York's West Side in the mid-1950s. The show begins
as a war is building between two rival gangs fighting over the same
turf: born and bred New York boys, The Jets, and Puerto Rican
immigrants The Sharks. In the midst of the battlefield are two young
romantics, Tony, a Jet, and Maria, the sister of Sharks leader. When
Tony and Maria unexpectedly meet and fall for one another, tension
between the rival groups only escalates, leading to a bloody and
senseless rumble that costs both sides young lives. Sound familiar?
Presenting the company of West Side Story, performing I Feel Pretty!.

I Feel Pretty (WEST SIDE STORY)

MARIA
I feel pretty
Oh, so pretty
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity
Any girl who isn't me tonight
I feel charming
Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real
See the pretty girl in that mirror there
Who can that attractive girl be?

Such a pretty face
Such a pretty dress
Such a pretty smile
Such a pretty me!
I feel stunning
And entrancing
Feel like running and dancing for joy
For I'm loved
By a pretty wonderful boy!

GIRLS
Have you met my good friend Maria
The craziest girl on the block?
You'll know her the minute you see her
She's the one who is in an advanced state of shock
She thinks she's in love
She thinks she's in Spain
She isn't in love
She's merely insane
It must be the heat
Or some rare disease
Or too much to eat
Or maybe it's fleas
Keep away from her
Send for Chino!
This is not the
Maria we know!
Modest and pure
Polite and refined
Well-bred and mature
And out of her mind!

MARIA
I feel pretty
Oh, so pretty
That the city should give me its key
A committee
Should be organized to honor me

GIRLS
La la la la
I feel dizzy
I feel sunny
I feel fizzy and funny and fine
And so pretty

Miss America can just resign!

GIRLS

Tonight's a night of celebration. We, as a Broadway family, celebrate

a special night of awards, where happiness and success are honoured
together. Based on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book of the same
name, Matilda follows Matilda Wormwood, a bright little girl who
immerses herself in books. The story follows her adventures as she
starts school, with a mean principal who hates her but a teacher who
understands how smarts she is. . Performing Nauth and Revolting
Children, I present the company of Matilda

Naughty (MATILDA)

MATILDA
Jack and Jill, went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water, so they say
Their subsequent fall was inevitable
They never stood a chance, they were written that way
Innocent victims of their story

Like Romeo and Juliet

T'was written in the stars before they even met
That love and fate, and a touch of stupidity
Would rob them of their hope of living happily
The endings are often a little bit gory
I wonder why they didn't just change their story?
We're told we have to do what we're told but surely
Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.

Just because you find that life's not fair it

Doesn't mean that you just have to grin and bear it
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
Nothing will change.
Even if you're little, you can do a lot, you
Mustn't let a little thing like, 'little' stop you
If you sit around and let them get on top,
you might as well be saying
You think that it's okay
And that's not right!

Cinderella, in the cellar,

Didn't have to do much as far as I could tell.
Her Godmother was two-thirds fairy,
Suddenly her lot, was a lot less scary,
But what if you haven't got a fairy to fix it?
Sometimes you have to make a little bit of mischief.

15
Just because you find that life's not fair it
Doesn't mean that you just have to grin and bear it
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
Nothing will change.
Even if you're little, you can do a lot, you
Mustn't let a little thing like, 'little' stop you
If you sit around and let them get on top,
you might as well be saying
You think that it's okay
And that's not right!
And if it's not right!
You have to put it right!

In the slip of a bolt, there's a tiny revolt.

The seeds of a war in the creak of a floorboard.
A storm can begin, with the flap of a wing.
The tiniest mite packs the mightiest sting!
Every day starts with the tick of a clock.
All escapes start with the click of a lock!
If you're stuck in your story and want to get out
You don't have to cry, you don't have to shout!

'Cause if you're little you can do a lot, you

Mustn't let a little thing like, 'little' stop you
If you sit around and let them get on top, you
Won't change a thing!
Just because you find that life's not fair it
Doesn't mean that you just have to grin and bear it!
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
You might as well be saying
You think that it's okay
And that's not right!
And if its not right!
You have to put it right!

But nobody else is gonna put it right for me

nobody but me is gonna change my story
sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.

Ehem..Too much fun boys, too much fun! Let me take it from here.
A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real life story of
the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world's best-known concert
groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews
plays the role of Maria, the outspoken postulant at an Austrian abbey
who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with
seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.
