entist or a biblical scholar to find the
connections between the crucifixion
of Jesus and God’s command to
Abraham to offer up his son Isaac
as a sacrifice.
Both Isaac and Jesus were loved
by their fathers. Both were en route
to their death: Isaac carrying the
wood for the fire; Jesus carrying the wood of the
cross. Isaac’s journey was three days. Jesus’ from
death to resurrection was also three days. The Gen-
esis story concludes with God’s last-minute change
of mind. Isaac is spared. Abraham’s unswerving faith
is richly rewarded. In the account of the passion and
resurrection, Jesus breaks the bonds of death and

Each church is adopting one day from 8 am–8 pm,
for two or more people to give public witness for one
or two hours, standing on Portage Street at the Niag-
ara Falls General Hospital, holding a sign “Pray to
End Abortion – 40 Days for Life.”
St. Helen's day is Saturday, March 3. You can in-
dicate the hour/s you will witness on the sign-up
sheet on the table at the entrance.
Pray for the Pope’s March Evangelization Inten-
tion - Formation in Spiritual Discernment ~ that the
Church may appreciate the urgency of formation
in spiritual discernment, both on the personal and

On Saturday, March 17 in every
parish church across the dio-
cese, a priest will be available
from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to
celebrate Reconciliation individ-
ually. There will also be Eucha-
ristic Adoration during this time.
No matter how long it has been, you are welcome to
celebrate the Sacrament of Penance, which assists
us in spiritual discipline as we turn away from sin
and open our hearts to reconciliation and healing --
or you can also simply come to pray before the Lord.
