CONFLICT RESOLUTION 2
Allen should not be allowed to keep his job with the company. This is because by
setting up a satiric website, he did not seem to consider his position in the company and the
relationship between him in middle-management, those above him, and the company.
Granted that he went out of his way to create the website, one can only speculate that if he
keeps his job, he may feel the need to further undermine the company and its interests in
future. Social contract ethics apply in this case since the company shares an implicit
agreement with the company to pursue its interests. Allen should instead have approached the Commented [G1]: Inserted: h

upper management and presented his proposals for consideration. However, the company
should look for ways to attend to such a problem instead of opting for temporary solutions
ExtremeNet should not first attempt a lawsuit to force the removal of Allen’s satiric
website. Instead, the company should approach him and ask him to pull it down. However, if
he refuses, the company can attempt a lawsuit since it would then be a legal issue given that
by forcing the removal of the website, Allen’s freedom of expression would be curtailed.
How can ExtremeNet’s leadership best respect the rights of Allen Lopez and
ExtremeNet?
ExtremeNet’s leadership can respect Allen’s rights by letting him keep the website.
This would safeguard his freedom of speech. In addition, if the leadership feels that the
information needs to be pulled down, the upper management should approach Allen and
explain their position, that of the company in light of the economic situation and request him
to take down the information with the promise that they will consider his recommendations.
CONFLICT RESOLUTION 3
How can ExtremeNet’s leadership best repair the relationship between management
and employees while meeting the needs and goals of the company?
ExtremeNet’s leadership can repair the relationship between employees and the
management by organizing an official meeting to discuss the ways in which the employees
can be accommodated under the effects of an economic downturn. This would show them
that they are valuable stakeholders of the company and their contribution and presence is
appreciated. The meeting should also feature discussions on the issues affecting them as
employees in as far as discrimination is concerned and curve the way forward to address the
raised issues.
