Fieldrip is one of many annual activities which organized by Geophysics

students of Brawijaya University. In 2017 this event was provided by the class of
2016 which were consisted of Student Chapter and Non-Student Chapter members.
AAPG UB SC representative participated in this event as participant and even as the
committee. This event was held for one day in four regions of Tulungagung-
Trenggalek which consisted of 5 stop sites.

The first destination was Rejotangan village which’s located in Tulungagung.

In this stop site we learned and took some datas about the characteristics of carbonate
rock outcrops. After that, we headed to Gamping village which also located in
Tulungagung and observed a normal fault of half graben. We also took some datas
about Campurdarat FM outcrop’s charactetistics and it’s rock that located in the site.
Then, we went to marble quarry of Besole village located in Tulungagung. In this
place we observed how the miners work and took some datas of marble characteristic
also the geomorphology around the site.

The fourth stop site was Lowo Cave which located in Trenggalek. In this site
we observed and learned about minor geological stuctures of Karst Geomorphology
such as stalagmites, stalagtites, and helectites. We also learned about the hidrology in
this area which consist of surface and subsurface stream called multibasinal pattern.
There were also some macro geological structures around the site such as a dike
intrusion with radius around 1 km and about 200m in height. The last site was Prigi
Beach of Trenggalek. In the last site, we observe the coastal morphology of this place
and found out that this beach was conisted of a rock formation from an ancient
volcano named Gajahmungkur. We also enjoyed the sunset at Prigi Beach before
went back to Malang.
