ASSURANCE OF SALVATION PART 2

WEEK 10
SS1 AND SS2

INTRODUCTION
Last week, we looked at reasons why people weren't assured of their salvation. Today, we will
look at the details of salvation, or the inner workings of it and some other things. Its important to
understand what happened when we received it.

BODY
1. WHAT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I RECEIVED SALVATION?
a) My Sins Were Remitted. When you remit money to someone else; it means the money is
gone. It is no longer yours. Remission means the sin is wiped and blotted out; it is forgotten
(Isaiah 43:25), (Heb.10:16-18). In remission, sins are forgiven, erased and forgotten. This could
only happen by the death of Jesus which was the payment for sins (Romans 6:23). He has paid
for suns past, present and future. There is nothing to pay for anymore.

b) I Was Justified, declared not guilty. Justification is the opposite of condemnation (Rom 3:
24). The case against me was thrown out and I stand before God as though I never sinned. Infact,
there is no record of sin against me ever again because Jesus paid the full price so I stand before
God innocent, guiltless, not condemned and can never be (Romans 8:1).

c) I Was Recreated (2 Cor. 5:17), (Jn 3:3-7). Regeneration means to recreate. That means a
new creature was born or created. When I got saved, the old nature of sin was removed and I
received a new nature. The Spirit of God. Romans 8:9, 15-16.

d) I Was Sealed With The Holy Spirit. A Seal is an emblem or a mark of ownership e.g.
stamps; also a cork is a seal of protection/preservation. God sealed you with the Holy Spirit to
make you inaccessible to the world and the devil, i.e. you are sealed from contamination. (Eph.

1:13-14)

2. WHAT IF I DON’T FEEL LIKE I AM SAVED?

You don’t have to feel saved to know that you are saved, because salvation is a spiritual reality.
(Explain the differences between feeling and faith and the difference between facts and the truth).
Facts are changeable, truth is unchangeable, Feelings can be based on fact but faith is based on
truth. It does not change. (Rom. 3: 4) Facts are present reality of a truth but Truth is eternal.
Therefore our faith should not be based on facts or feeling but on God’s word. 2 Cor. 4:18, 2 Cor.
5:7 Facts are temporal realities while truth is eternal reality.

3. HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM SAVED?

God’s word says so. If you fulfill the conditions in Rom10: 9-10, you are guaranteed salvation and
God’s word cannot lie.

The Witness of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of
God. (1 John.5: 10, Rom. 8: 16).

If you believe in the name of Jesus Christ (John 1: 12) and receive Him into your life, then know for
sure that you are saved.

CONCLUSION:
Salvation is based on faith in Jesus alone. Salvation means to be rescued, to be saved from sin
and death which will result to eternal separation from God. Don’t be afraid of losing salvation. The
bible says God is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into His
glorious presence without a single fault (Jude 1:24). Amen.
