• A Bachelor’s degree equivalent to an Upper Second Class or with a good GPA (3 or above) from an accredited university
or an equivalent professional qualification. The degree should be in a related subject from an accredited university.
• English language proficiency equivalent to EmSat 1400 , IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550.
• Applicants who do not meet the standard entry qualifications may be considered for conditional admittance.

The MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution is designed to enable practicing lawyers, engineers,
architects, surveyors and other relevant professionals to gain expertise in a range of studies related to construction
law and dispute resolution. Its purpose is to enable students to develop expertise in a set of areas related to
construction law and dispute resolution, and includes foundation modules in law for non-lawyers and construction
for lawyers. This MSc programme supports the career development of GCC nationals within both private and
public sector organisations that are engaged in infrastructure and building projects. It ensures that students are
familiar with the basic construction technology, legal knowledge and techniques necessary to understand current
theory and practice in construction law and dispute resolution.

Students commence their postgraduate study by taking one of the two modules below:
Construction Law I
This module will build on the knowledge gained from earlier modules in order to provide a solid understanding of
the special features of construction which give rise to particular legal doctrines and problems.
Arbitration Law
This module aims to provide a solid foundation in the different aspects of arbitration, with a specific focus on
international commercial arbitration as it applies to construction, including issues which are specific to Dubai, the
UAE and the wider Gulf Region
Construction Law II
The module provides a solid understanding of further aspects of the legal implications of construction projects,
with a special focus on the structuring of projects.
Construction Procurement
The module provides knowledge and a higher level of understanding of the effective procurement of construction
projects. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the different procurement methods/strategies and
contracts, pre-contract management, key issues in design management and the impact of BIM and its impact on
the role and management of the different members of the design/project team.
