This line graph compared the energy consumed in the USA using six different sources

of power over a period of 35 years.

It is clear that petrol and oil by far was the most important type of energy over the
period shown. Nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower provided a negligible amount of
energy consumption in each year.

In 1980, petrol and oil were the main source of energy consumed and gradually
increased to 42 quadrillion units in 2015. Natural Gas took on the secondary primary
mean of energy use and fluctuated between the period of 25 years. Coal provided a
smaller amount of energy consumption but overtook natural gas in 1993 and then
reached the same level of energy used by natural gas, increasing to 25 quadrillion units
in 2015. Nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower remained stable.

In 2015, petrol and oil are still expected as the primary source over all types and to
continuously increase to 47 quadrillion units by 2030. By contrast, the figure of natural
gas is likely to remain the same level and overtaken again by that of coal from 2015.
The rest of the types of energy are expected to remain relatively stable, but nuclear
power is likely to see an increasingly rise in the future.
