Sujeito - Longe de engrossar o coro daqueles que defendiam a "morte do sujeito", Lacan sempre
acreditou no caráter irredutível da subjetividade. A seu ver, a especificidade da psicanálise vinha
exatamente da recusa em admitir que os fatos psíquicos fossem apenas resultados de descargas
neuroniais ou distúrbios orgânicos. Mas, por outro lado, o sujeito lacaniano não guarda muitas
semelhanças com seus antepassados modernos. Filho de um tempo que não acredita mais na
transparência da consciência e na luz natural da razão, o sujeito lacaniano verá sua auto-identidade
aparecer irremediavelmente despedaçada. Desprovido de vida interior e de profundidade
psicológica, ele será como um personagem de "nouveau roman": vazio, impessoal e incapaz de se
apropriar reflexivamente de sua própria história. A esse sujeito restará ser um movimento de fuga
que não cessa de não se inscrever, tal como um sintoma que nunca se dissolve.
Desejo - "Por fim, amamos o desejo, e não o desejado." A frase é de Nietzsche, mas cabe em Lacan.
Núcleo do ser do sujeito lacaniano, a característica principal do desejo é não ter objeto naturalmente
dado. Ele é manifestação de um vazio, de uma pura negatividade que quer consumir os objetos
nomeados pela linguagem, passar por eles, mas que não se satisfaz com nenhum. "O desejo é
sempre o desejo de Outra coisa." Até porque o homem é o único animal que não deseja exatamente
coisas. Ele deseja desejos. Para Lacan, um objeto só se torna desejável a partir do momento em que
ele é objeto de desejo do Outro. Daí a frase: "O desejo do homem é o desejo do Outro".
Imaginário, simbólico e real - São os três registros nos quais se desenvolve a experiência humana. O
imaginário é aquilo que o homem tem em comum com o comportamento animal. Trata-se de um
conjunto de imagens ideais que guiam tanto a relação do indivíduo com seu ambiente próprio
quanto o desenvolvimento de sua personalidade. O Simbólico é o domínio da organização estrutural
da vida social. Como Lacan subordina a sociedade e a cultura à linguagem, a ordem simbólica será
um conjunto de significantes que determina os lugares que cada um pode ocupar na vida social.
Já o Real não é, como poderia parecer, a dimensão da experiência imediata. Sua definição é
negativa: ele é aquilo que não pode ser representado por um significante nem pode ser formalizado
por uma imagem. Essas três dimensões estão sempre presentes em uma relação de articulação
conjunta.
Linguagem - Lacan será lembrado para todo o sempre por ter efetuado uma espécie de "guinada
linguística" na psicanálise. Como a clínica analítica é totalmente desmedicalizada e opera apenas
por meio da reorientação da palavra do sujeito, nada mais lógico do que pensar a cura como um
processo de simbolização e verbalização dos sintomas e desejos inconscientes. Daí a importância da
linguagem e de sua dimensão própria: a ordem simbólica. Mas a novidade é que Lacan pensa a
linguagem como um sistema fechado de significantes puros sem significado e não como um
conjunto de signos que representariam positivamente alguma realidade extralinguística. Uma
simbolização que opera só por meio de significantes puros não pode produzir significado e nem
ampliar o horizonte de compreensão da consciência. O que muda radicalmente a noção de
"interpretação" em psicanálise.
Falo - Termo que indica o valor simbólico e imaginário adquirido pelo órgão sexual masculino nas
fantasias. Nesse sentido, ele não é o pênis orgânico. Ele é um significante fundamental cujo valor
está ligado às representações de potência e força. O Falo ocupa um lugar privilegiado na teoria
lacaniana porque todos os sujeitos (masculinos ou femininos) organizam seu desejo a partir da
posse do Falo. O universo lacaniano será claramente falocêntrico e por trás de todos os elementos
do simbolismo social há sempre o significante fálico. No fundo, isso demonstra que Lacan pensa a
sociedade contemporânea como uma espécie de sociedade totêmica em que tudo gira em torno das
múltiplas identificações possíveis com um significante primordial. Só que, no lugar do totem, temos
o Falo.
Objeto pequeno a - Esse é o conceito que mais sofreu modificações ao longo da trajetória de Lacan.
Mas ele sempre indicará o objeto causa do desejo, e não objeto do desejo, já que o desejo não tem
objeto. "Pequeno a" é causa porque funciona como uma espécie de matriz transcendental para a
constituição dos objetos nos quais o desejo se alienará. Todos os objetos investidos pelo desejo
serão modulações de um único objeto cujo estatuto é o de uma fantasia fundamental. Um bom
exemplo é o fetiche -uma matriz para a constituição geral do universo do perverso. Mas dizer que o
mundo dos objetos do desejo humano é colonizado por uma fantasia fundamental nos leva longe. É
como afirmar que todos os sujeitos estão presos no interior de seus próprios fantasmas. Não é por
outra razão que o fim de análise será pensado como a travessia desse mundo fantasmático por meio
de uma "crítica ao fetichismo" do objeto pequeno a.
Pulsão - O termo está no singular porque Lacan unifica o dualismo freudiano entre pulsão de vida e
de morte. "Toda pulsão é virtualmente pulsão de morte." [ " Aqui Lacan não pensa exatamente na
"morte física" e no retorno ao inanimado biológico de Freud, mas em uma "morte simbólica" por
meio da qual o sujeito se desvincularia de todos os seus papéis sociais, colocando em cheque a ação
organizadora da ordem simbólica. É interessante perceber aqui uma inversão de perspectiva
fundamental. Em Freud, a pulsão de morte aparecia como obstáculo à eficácia da clínica, já que era
o que resistia aos mecanismos de simbolização. Já Lacan troca os sinais e vê a pulsão de morte
como a manifestação criadora de um desejo que não pode ser satisfeito pelo utilitarismo que rege
nosso universo simbólico, com imperativos de adaptação, felicidade e sucesso.
Gozo - Há em Lacan uma distinção entre gozo e prazer. O prazer está ligado à repetição de
experiências primeiras de satisfação que ocorreram na vida infantil. O gozo está para além do
princípio do prazer e sempre indica processos de transgressão de limites que tocam o sofrimento e a
morte: "O caminho em direção à morte não é outra coisa que aquilo que chamamos de gozo". Até
porque o gozo marcaria o encontro do sujeito com a pulsão de morte. E aqui Lacan pensa em
Antígona e Joyce: personagens que destroem seus vínculos com a ordem simbólica (Antígona
contra a "pólis", Joyce contra a linguagem) a fim de permanecerem fieis à seus desejos. O problema
é pensar uma clínica que tenha Antígona e Joyce como paradigmas.
Mulher - Como todo mundo sabe, "a mulher não existe". Esse enunciado lacaniano só pode ser
compreendido à condição de aceitarmos que a diferença sexual não é biologicamente determinada,
mas simbolicamente produzida. Um "homem" é o resultado da identificação do sujeito (seja ele
masculino ou feminino) com um significante que representa o Falo. O problema é que não há, no
universo simbólico falocêntrico lacaniano, um elemento que simbolize o sexo feminino. Por outro
lado, Lacan se apóia em Lévi-Strauss para lembrar que as mulheres aparecem na ordem simbólica
como objetos de troca, e não como sujeitos agentes. Logo, só há lugar na estrutura para aqueles que
se submetem à identificação fálica. O que não impede que a posição feminina possa aparecer "fora"
da ordem simbólica. Daí porque Lacan tende a aproximar o feminino de uma posição mística
impronunciável e dizer que a mulher é aberta a um gozo mais próximo da verdade inominável do
desejo.
Relação sexual - Assim como a mulher, "a relação sexual não existe". Uma das formas de
compreender essa impossibilidade é analisá-la como um processo intersubjetivo. Se a relação sexual
fosse possível, ela seria uma relação intersubjetiva entre dois sujeitos encarnados em dois corpos.
Mas o problema é que o corpo do outro sempre aparece como tela de projeção das fantasias do
sujeito. Na relação sexual, o corpo é sempre um corpo fetichizado. Daí porque Lacan afirmar que o
amor é, na sua essência, narcísico.
Inconsciente - O inconsciente lacaniano não é uma caixa de Pandora de onde sairiam pulsões não-
socializadas e conteúdos recalcados. Todos os desejos e pensamentos latentes podem ser
reapropriados pela consciência e, por isso, são pré-conscientes. O que Lacan procura é algo que
apareça como limite irredutível ao pensamento consciente. Ele o encontrará em duas vertentes. A
primeira está na negatividade da teoria das pulsões. Mas a mais famosa ficou cristalizada na
fórmula: "O inconsciente é estruturado como uma linguagem". Não se trata de dizer que há uma
espécie de linguagem privada inconsciente, como se existisse uma estação de rádio clandestina
interferindo na estação de rádio pública. De uma certa forma, o inconsciente é a linguagem, ou seja,
ele é o conjunto de regras estruturais da linguagem que moldam a forma do pensamento consciente.
Saímos assim de um registro "arqueológico", no qual o inconsciente é o texto escondido sob o texto
da consciência, para transformá-lo na estrutura formal do pensamento. (VLADIMIR SAFATLE)

Las tesis de Peter Sloterdijk, en su gran investigación acerca de la naturaleza del hombre, podrían
ser comprendidas como la crítica del cuento del retorno de las religiones. No es la religión la que
retorna, sino que, más bien –tal como Peter Sloterdijk documenta en su amplio estudio– encuentra
su lugar algo muy fundamental en el presente: el hombre como ser que practica, como ser que, a

la sociedad, diseña una antropología básica y fundamentalmente nueva. El meollo de su ciencia del
hombre reside en el conocimiento de la autoformación de todo lo humano. La actividad tanto del
individuo como de los colectivos actúa incesantemente sobre él y sobre cada uno de ellos.
Son los hombres que se ejercitan expresamente los que encarnan de forma más clara ese tipo de
existencia: labradores, obreros, guerreros, escribientes, yoguis, retóricos, músicos virtuosos o
modelos. Este libro reúne sus planes de entrenamiento y récords de rendimiento en una visión
general de los ejercicios que son necesarios para ser hombre y permanecer siéndolo.
