TEACHABILITY INDEX (How teachable are you?)

One of the most important things you will learn about success in life is the teachability index. The
teachability index is measured in percentage (%). It is arguably the 100% measurement of the requirement for
success in life. The teachability index has two parts:

1. Your willingness to LEARN (WTL)

2. Your willingness to accept CHANGE (WTC)

Teachability Index = your desire for KNOWLEDGE and CHANGE.

Teachability Index (100%) = (WTL) x (WTC) x 100%

(on a scale of 0 — 10) What is Your willingness to LEARN?

Don’t be quick to say, “Yes, I’m willing to learn!” because your “willingness to learn” is on a scale of to 10.
There are indications to actually measure your willingness to learn.

1. Are you willing to give up money for KNOWLEDGE? Buying books, CDs, etc. that gives
knowledge
2. Are you willing to give up your time for KNOWLEDGE? Reading books, listening to audios,
etc.
3. Are you willing to give up what you love (e.g. TV, movies, etc.) to acquire KNOWLEDGE?
4. Are you willing to get a mentor so you can take the posture of a student and be accountable?
5. What are you actually willing to give in exchange for knowledge?

If you can boldly answer yes to all these questions, your willingness to learn is probably between 8 and 10. If
no, your willingness to learn is probably between 0 and 3.

Other key ideas about willingness to learn (WTL):

1. Never forget this statement: “You don’t know what you don’t know. But at least BE AWARE
that you don’t know what you don’t know.”
2. Never say, “I know it!” “I’ve got it!” “I perfectly understand it!” “I’m the best at this!”
etc. Instead say, “I’m knowing it!” “I’m getting it, I believe there is still more to learn”, “I’m
understanding it,” “I’m getting better at this.” The very moment you say, “I’ve got it!” your
willingness to learn DROPS straight to either 0 or 1, and it reduces your possibilities
of making constant progress in life.
3. The reason why you should never say, “I’ve got it” instead of “I’m getting it” is because you
are AWARE that you don’t know what you don’t know. This increases your possibilities of
making constant progress.
“You don’t know what you don’t know. But at least BE AWARE that you don’t know what you don’t know.”

(on a scale of 0 — 10) What is Your willingness to accept CHANGE?

I tell people, “The willingness to learn is very simple”, the challenge with most people is the willingness to
accept change. The willingness to accept change is your willingness to ACTUALLY DO what you’re
“learning”, regardless of whether it contradicts your feelings, your previous knowledge/experience, or your
former way of doing things. Most people actually score high on their willingness to learn and VERY LOW on
their willingness to accept change. Perhaps the word “do” is the most important word in achievements in life!
Remember…

Teachability Index (100%) = (WTL) x (WTC) x 100%

So if you score 9 in your WTL and you score 0 in your WTC, Your Teachability Index = 9 x 0 = 0. Meaning
you are still not teachable. Interestingly, success in life is nothing but progressive change.

So, are you teachable? Once you’re teachable (high WTL + high WTC), you will literally be making constant
progress in your life! “If the student in you is ready, the teacher will show up!”
“If the student in you is ready, the teacher will show up!”
