Cooperative Learning Lesson Plan

I. There are 20 student in my classroom. I have two gifted/talented, one ELL, and one
disabled students. My disabled student is visually impaired, so I decided to put her
always in the front. As well as I put my ELL student right next to my desk, just in case
she needs me and is easier to access the teacher for her benefit.
II. Subject:
a. Math Skills; playing multiplication bingo; recognizing all multiplication facts.
III. Objective:
a. While playing multiplication bingo students will be able to identify and predict
their multiplication facts from 1-12 with a 70-100% accuracy.
IV. Procedures:
a. The teacher will stand in front of the class and state that today we will identify
and predict our multiplication facts in groups for our math lesson.
b. There will be 4 groups of 5 students in each and will be randomly put into each
group.
c. We will review how the game is played as well as the rules.
d. After knowing the rules student will be put into random groups and start the
game.
e. The rules will be:
i. That the student can only use his knowledge as well as his white board or
pen and paper to solve the equation.
ii. No cheating, must solve the problem individually no help from the group.
iii. All students must participate in order for your group to get the extra credit.
V. Materials:
a. 4 multiplication bingo boards
b. White boards
c. Pen and Paper
VI. Group Structure:
a. Teams-Games-Tournaments
b. Having 4 groups made up of 5 students, randomly placed into groups by the
teacher.
c. My ELL, two gifted/talented, and disabled student will be placed into one of the
groups.
VII. Modifications:
a. No modifications needed with this lesson.
b. If needed the teacher will assist each group; if having any issues.
VIII. Assessment:
a. Each group will receive extra credit if all the students in their group were
participating equally.
b. The teacher will ask the students to sit in their seats as she is putting up five
different multiplication problems. Than the student will work independently to
work on solving the equations.
c. If the students seem to solve the problems with no hesitation than homework will
be assigned for the night if the students seem to have problems or confused than
practice work will be sent home for the students to practice. Students will be
ready to continue the lesson tomorrow with a different approach.
