Important Note:
This training runs under the following operating systems:
• Windows 2000 Professional (with SP4)
• Windows XP (with SP1 or SP2)
• Windows 2003 Server R2

Advanced QuickTest Professional 9.2 (Book version QTP92ADV)

Minimum Hardware required for all class machines:


CPU: Pentium III; 500 MHZ
Memory: 256MB RAM
Swap Space: 192MB
Disk Space: 300MB (free disk space before installation)

Checklist and Training Setup Instructions
All installations require Administrative privileges. The Web browser must be installed first, before QuickTest Professional
or any training files.

Please check each item below when complete:

On All Student Machines:

A. INSTALL AND CONFIGURE THE BROWSER

… 1. Ensure that a Web browser is


installed on the training machines
before you install QuickTest
Professional.

… 2. If you intend to use Microsoft Internet


Explorer: • Use Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 or higher.

• Launch IE browser.

• Enable ActiveX controls and plugins:

• Select Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog


opens.

• Select the Security tab.


• Click “Custom Level”.

• Under “ActiveX controls and plugins”, select Enable.

• Click OK.

… 3. Ensure that Microsoft Virtual Machine • Verify that JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requires

• Disable automatic Internet Explorer updates:

updates” is unchecked

• Click OK. The Internet Options window should close.

• Restart the machine.

B. INSTALL QUICKTEST PROFESSIONAL AND THE TRAINING DIRECTORY

• Run setup.exe from the CD-ROM.

instructions. • Accept all defaults until installation is complete.

• Remove the check from the “Register Now” box.

• If you installed QuickTest Professional with out internet


access, install the Microsft Debugger using the file you
downloaded from the Microsoft link.

… 2. Install the QuickTest Professional 9.2 • Double click the file: QTP92-SetupFiles-01B.zip to open it in
Training Directory and solution your WinZip program.

This folder contains the tests and solution subfolders along
with the subfolders for the repositories, libraries, data and
reusable actions.

NOTE: If you extract the files to a different directory


than listed above, you will need to update every test
to look for its repositories, libraries, data and
reusable actions in the new path.

C. INSTALL THE WEB SERVER AND THE TRAINING WEB SITE

• If you have a newly installed browser, be sure to invoke the

D. VERIFY THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE TRAINING WEB SITE

• From the Start Menu, choose Mercury Tours.

Password: training

• Validate that the Flight Reservation page appears.

• Click on the SIGN-OFF button.

• Close the browser.

• From the Start Menu, choose Programs Æ QuickTest
… 10. Invoke QuickTest Professional
Professional Æ QuickTest Professional. This launches the
QuickTest Professional program.

• Check the boxes next to ActiveX and Web.

• Choose Blank Test from the QuickTest Professional window.

• Click OK.

• From the Start Menu, choose Mercury Tours Æ Mercury Tours.

WelcomeServlet and press the Enter key.

• The home page of the Mercury Tours Web site should appear.

13. The Mercury Tours Web site comes up


without any error messages. • In the QuickTest Professional window, click on the red “Record”
button on the toolbar.

14. Start recording


• Choose “Record and run test on any open web browser” in the
Record and Run Settings window.

15. Record • Enter the following information:


User name: mercury
Password: training
Press the Sign-in Button.

• The login should be recorded by QuickTest Professional.

16. Verify recording • Click on the black, square Stop button on the toolbar.

Stop Server.

NOTE: ALWAYS use Stop Server (either from the Desktop icon or the Start menu Programs >
Mercury Tours) to stop the Apache Web server. Shutting it down by other methods will have
unexpected results.

D. Repeat steps A through B above for all student workstations.

Setup Verification:
After you have verified the setup of all machines to be used in the training, please fax the completed
checklist to your PSO logistic coordinator. In order for Mercury to have time to review the information, please
fax the completed checklist at least two working days before the start of the training event. Thank you for
