RE: DEMAND TO VACATE AND PAY

Dear Secretary Lorenzana:

This pertains to our agricultural property covered by tax declaration No. 08-0009-00362 situated
In Barangay Cabcaban, Sumisip, Basilan.

On March 8, 2017, the Special Forces of the Philippine Army under the command of Lt. Col.
Andrew Bacala and by force and intimidation occupied two (2) hectares of our agricultural land more or
less two hundred (200) fruit bearing coconut trees were cut down by the Military troops. It was later
converted into a Military Camp by the Philippine Army up to this very day.

For this reason, in my capacity as one of the heirs and co-owners of my late Father Halaptu
Lawama, respectfully asks and demand thru your office for the military troops who established camp in
our agricultural land to VACATE within 30 days from receipt of this demand letter.

Additionally, the undersigned demand payments of actual damages which should be

compensated by your office consisting of the following:
1) Coconut Tree 15,000/unit x 200 = PhP3000,000.00
2) Harvest/ 70,000.00 x 4 = PhP280,000.00
3) Monthly rental from March 2017 in the amount of 50,000/per month x 12 = PhP600,000.00

I have attached my complaint affidavit narratively the facts of the unlawful deprivation
of ownership of my agricultural land. It also includes the pictures of the site development of the military
camp.

In the alternative, the undersigned is open for discussion for the use of the property by the
military. However, we reiterate that the actual damages as above - enumerated must be paid by the
government to the owners of the said agricultural land.

We hope that this matter can be settled amicably. The owner would avoid legal action unless it
is necessary to protect their property rights over the land which was forcibly taken from them.
