Lesson Process:
The lesson will begin with a review of dance elements and use of space as well as expectations
while dance/spelling. We will review the “I can” statements as well.
I Can Statements: I can use movement to help me spell words. I can read frequently seen words
in text.
Opening- Students will explore some different movement ideas than previously used to spell
words.
Activity- Students will read the sight word listed on the power point and then choose a
movement level, space, pathway, direction, and speed based on the letters in the sight word to
spell the word.
Closing- Selected students will come to the ‘stage’/rug and perform a sight word. The audience
will try to guess which sight word based on the each student’s levels of movement.
