This song is from the musical titled “Sound of

Music.”

Doe, Ray, Me, Far, Sew, La and Tea is equal

to Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti.

Those are Pitch names.

Now are you ready to read and sing the Pitch
name?

Let’s Go!!!
B. Explore
Like an actor’s script, a sheet of music guides
a musician what to play. Pitch is essential
element in music. Before we Read and Identify
Pitch, we must know the basics first.

Musical Symbols We Might Encounter

Note/s: It is use to identify the Pitch

G Clef: Clefs are used to indicate what note to play in the staff. G
Clef indicates that the second line from the bottom of the staff is
the Sol or G. It is often use in Treble

F Clef: Clefs are used to indicate what note to play in the

staff. F Clef indicates that the second line from the top of the staff
is the Fa or F. It is often use in Bass.

Staff: a five (5) lines four (4) spaces that indicates the pitch. Staff is not
complete without Clef.
Ledger Line/s: it is added when the pitch is over or below the staff.
Accidentals: it is not a member of the scale or mode. Sharp make the note half
step higher. Flat make the note half step lower. Natural make the note neutral or
it bring back the note to its original pitch.

C. Elaborate
Pitch indicate what sound to make or to play.
The pitch has name, it’s like the alphabet from A to G then it
goes back to A. This is called the letter names. This
illustration show the corresponding letter names on the white
of the tile the piano

C D E F G A B C D E F G A B C D E F G A B C D E F G A B

The Pitch of the note is written on the staff. Now let’s try
to use the G-clef first to named the lines and space of the staff.

Let us label the Lines as E G B D F and the Spaces as F A C E

To help us read the lines on G-clef, let memorize this; Every

Good Boys Deserve Fudge. To read the spaces remember F A C
E.

Now let’s use the F-clef, let us label the Lines as G B D F A and
the Spaces as A C E G
To help us read the lines in F-Clef, memorize this; Good Boys
Deserve Fudge Always. In spaces, we use All Cows Eat Grass.
Sometimes the pitch is lower or higher than the usual pitch. In
those cases we can see another musical symbol that tell us
whether we go up or go down. We call it “Accidentals.”
There are Flat,
Sharp,
And natural.
This is how it works

The Sharp makes the Pitch half step higher, and then the Natural
cancels the sharp symbol. The Flat make the pitch half step
lower. If you see the black keys of the piano those are the
possible notes we need if we have accidentals.
D. Explain
As we sing the song in our first activity, we already
identify the Pitch names or Sofa Syllables. Letter names is equal
to Pitch names. See the Table and Illustrations for more
understanding.
