About SI Unit Basically, SI unit is an expansion of the traditional metric unit. In an industrial metric unit, the unit of kg was used for both mass (kg) and force (kg/kgf), while the SI units separate these to mass (kg) and force (N). Weight means a gravitational force acting on an object in SI unit. Thus, the ‘weight’ in SI is a multiplication of a mass and gravitational acceleration.
