Ministry for the Sick and Homebound
We are grateful to those who give of their time and
care to bring Holy Communion to our parishioners
who cannot make it to church due to sickness or in-
firmity. If you know of anyone who would like to re-
ceive communion in their home or while hospitalized
at West Lincoln Hospital, please contact the parish
office.
SVDP Society
Who are we? - The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam in Paris, is
dedicated to the service of those in need throughout
the world. St. Helen's Council presently has six ac-
tive members that volunteer their time.
What do we do? - We help our needy neighbours
that live within the boundaries of St. Helen. All calls
are screened and a home visit is arranged with 2
members attending.
How are we supported? - The poor box in the ves-
tibule of the church is our main means of support.
How can you donate? - A cheque made out to St.
Helen St. Vincent de Paul can be dropped in the
poor box or the Sunday collection. There are also
St. Vincent de Paul envelopes available for cash do-
nations. Tax receipts are issued in January.

2018 Share Lent Campaign - A school of
community leaders in Peru
For the fourth week of Lent, we go to Peru and dis-
cover one of Development and Peace’s partners, the
Bartolomé de Las Casas Institute and the Hugo
Echegaray leadership school, where students
strengthen their capacity for dialogue, consensus,
participation, and consultation in order to exercise
ethical and responsible civic leadership in their com-

darity Sunday collection will be celebrated in all

Our nation was found-
ed and flourished as we
declared, “In God we
trust.” As we turn away
from God trouble begins
within our lands. It has
happened before.
The hand of God is
traced in the great
events of history. In 589 B.C.E., King Nebuchadnez-
zar of the Babylonian empire destroyed Jerusalem
and leveled the Temple. The Jews were taken to
Babylon and placed in captivity. They grew old,
dreaming of their lost land. After half a century, the
Lord anointed Cyrus, the King of Persia, grasping his
right hand. In 539 B.C.E., Cyrus marched toward Je-
rusalem. There, he took and rebuilt the city. He re-
stored the Temple, fulfilling the words of the prophet
Jeremiah. God still sends messages to us today.

a “Walk through the Passion”

This “visual” Passion study will be a combination of
reading passages from the Gospels and showing im-
ages of Jerusalem (today and reconstructed from
Christ’s time). Being able to picture his activities that
last week will help us as we prepare ourselves dur-
ing Lent by letting Jesus’ sacrifice sink in and then
celebrate the miracle of the resurrection. Come join
us and bring a friend.

Reconciliation/Adoration
On Saturday, March 17 in every
parish church across the dio-
cese, a priest will be available
from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to
celebrate Reconciliation individ-
ually. There will also be Eucha-
ristic Adoration during this time. No matter how long
it has been, you are welcome to celebrate the Sacra-
ment of Penance, which assists us in spiritual disci-
pline as we turn away from sin and open our hearts
to reconciliation and healing -- or you can also simp-
ly come to pray before the Lord.
HAM ROLL - 50/50 TICKETS
This weekend and next, before and after all Masses,
you can purchase a 50/50 ticket which will be drawn
at the Ham Roll on Friday March 23rd. The winning
ticket will receive half of the proceeds from the ticket
sales. Winner will be contacted and does not need
to be present to receive prize. Tickets are $5 each.

This faith formation series is being held on four con-
secutive Monday evenings, beginning April 9, 2018,
7-9pm., at the Catholic Centre, 3400 Merrittville
