Let me introduce myself, I am Rai Dwijayanti and also you can call me Rai. I am a student of
Polytechnic of Health Denpasar majoring Nursing Department. Now, I am on the 3 rd semester.
Here, I wanna tell you about my experiences during nursing practical at Karangasem Hospital
and Puskesmas III of North Denpasar.

Okey, lets check this out……

First, let we start from Karangasem Hospital. I began to start my practical in hospital is on 8th
until 26th of May 2017. Before I start my practice at hospital, I prepared some of what I needs for
practice such as plan of activities book for the patients, fundamental of nursing book for helping
me to make a tasks from my school, and also I prepare where I should stay for 3 weeks in
Karangasem during my practical and lucky me, I have a house in Karangasem, so I don’t need to
rent a boarding house hahaha….

On the first day, I started my practice at Karangasem Hospital, and I have practice at Wijaya
Kusuma 3 ward. I felt a little bit nervous on my first day, I didn’t know what exactly why I’m so
nervous, maybe it’s just because it’s the first experience to practice at Hospital and meet the real
patients. I began to adapting with the room, the senior, the health equipment, and also to the
patients. Wijaya kusuma is a ward for a patient who have a problem with their internal, so that’s
why Wijaya Kusuma ward was called Interna Ward. There are 14 rooms in Wijaya kusuma and
it divided into 2 classification rooms. The first classification is the First Class Room, there are 4
First Class Room, and each room is contains 2 beds and it used for 2 patients. So, there are 8
beds in First Class Room. The second classification is The Second Class Room, there are 10
Second class room, and each room is contains 4 beds and it used for 4 patients. So, there are 40
beds in Second Class Room. And the total of beds in Wijaya Kusuma is 44 beds, OMG you can
imagine if the ward is full of patients how crowded will the ward be.

Okay, lucky me when I’m doing my practice there are the other health student which is practice
in Wijaya kusuma too. They are from SMK 1 Karangasem, so even though the patients is
crowded, I’m not working alone because they help me and yaa not so tiring hehehe. The seniors
in Wijaya Kusuma is very kind. They are very kind for teaching me to take a nursing activities
such as take the bloods sample of the patient, injecting the patient from IntraVena, taking care of
the patient’s wound, apply for infusion, and etc. I really happy and enjoyed my practice in
Karangasem Hospital especially at Wijaya Kusuma Ward.
