cannot support a growing population. Every child we have
today is another consumer in the future. Each one will want 10
their own home and car, and they’ll be using energy. The
population of the world today is growing. Imagine if people
cut the amount of energy they use by half and the population
doubles, then the total energy consumption will still be the
same.
4
Why is nobody talking about the population problem
nowadays? Mainly, it’s because we need a bigger population
to support older people. Many governments actually
encourage population growth, for example by giving parents
money for each child born. I think this is a huge mistake.
5
We must try to stop population growth now. There isn’t
enough food to feed everybody on the planet now, and we
are damaging our planet in order to meet our energy needs. If
we don’t, as Malthus said, the population will be cut in more
unpleasant ways – by wars, diseases and food shortages.
