1. INTRODUCTION: “If one is to succeed in one’s life one has to keep pace with the
changing times”. This saying hold goods in very field of life, be it a general or a
professional one. Being the student of a professional course, you have to keep constant
vigil on the rapidly changing business environment. Except for some strategically
important industries every field is now thrown open to global competition. Liberalization
and globalization combined with the privatization of existing public sector companies is
the new mantra of Indian economic policy. So in this era of tough competition, only those
who maintain very high global standards will survive and human resource is the main
survival plank of any Industry. Industry spends a lot of time and money to recruit the best
possible talent available in the country. For effective growth, every Management School
requires collateral support from the industry. These students in turn help the industries to
grow. Thus it becomes obligatory for institutions to produce students with necessary
industrial training so as to make them competent and efficient to excel in their career. In
line with this, the curriculum has been so designed that practical training is part and
parcel of the syllabus.

2. NEED AND OBJECTIVES: The need for the industrial training of the students is to
make them aware of the work culture of an enterprise along with understanding of the
resources available, processes and other modes of operations. Providing industrial
training vis-à-vis hands-on experience is a must to mould an BBA student to a full-
fledged professional. The main objectives of practical training for the students are:
i) To acquaint them with the actual work environment and to get them exposed
to the latest technological developments / advancements related to their work
ii) To make them understand the importance of time and money, team work
and discipline.
iii) To inculcate sense of responsibility among them.
iv) To familiarize them with resources, processes, the psychology of personnel
and attitude towards work
v) To provide hands-on experience.
vi) Also to make them understand the social, economic and administrative
aspects that affects the working of an organization.

2. BENEFITS TO STUDENTS: The practical training will help the students to acquire
adequate technical know-how and they will have first hand information of the corporate
environment, which cannot be simulated in an institution. It is not possible for any
institution to provide all types of processes, equipment and other resources that are used
in various industries. The practical training provides an opportunity to students to get an
exposure to business processes, relevant technology and work ethics. This results in
better employment opportunities for students and helps them to fine-tune their analytical
approach to solve problems. The likely benefits for the students are listed below:
i) Practical knowledge of their disciplines is acquired through the planned
processes, which are an integral part of the educational process.
ii) Awareness of strengths and weaknesses in personal characteristics and work
attitudes is gained informally through regular contact with supervisors and
fellow workers, and formally through the use of the employer evaluation
forms, on the job visits and on return to institute by interviews with
coordinators. This awareness can lead to significant personal and
professional development.
iii) Better career decisions result from frequent and more extensive exposure to
the work environment.
iv) Communication skills are honed through the medium of the work
requirements, which accentuates the awareness of real life situations and
responsibilities.
v) Greater understanding of concepts by relating theory and practical
application inherent in the work / study sequence.
vi) Self-development, maturity and ability to manage self are enhanced further
by the necessity for many students to live away from home during the work
terms and to adjust to frequent changes.
vii) It allows to work on one’s ability to enhance performance in a realistic job
environment.
viii) It improves overall employability of the trainee.
ix) It makes students aware of latest industrial and business practices.
x) It helps easy transition of student into an employment situation
xi) It enhances vocational expertise.
xii) It fosters in students the interpersonal work relationship & develops skills in
human relationships.

3. SCHEDULE FOR SUMMER TRAINING:

Start date : 3rd Week of May 2010

Completion date : 31st July 2010
Submission date of draft report : 25th Aug 2010

5. DAILY DIARY: While on industrial training the students are required to maintain a
diary recording the day-to-day account of the work done, relevant observations, impressions,
learning and the information that they gather. The student has to get it signed every week
from the Corporate Mentor. The daily diary along with the project report will be evaluated on

7. EVALUATION BY INDUSTRY: For this, Performa (Annexure II) be filled up by the

concerned Corporate Mentor in the organization. This assessment will be sent directly by the
training organization to the institute.

8. The project has 100 marks and this is very significant in your final grade and results. Hence it
should be taken very seriously. The project Guide and Corporate Mentor may in future also have
recommendation and assessment. Hence keeping them informed and taking their guidance should
be borne in mind.

9. GENERAL DIRECTIONS TO THE STUDENTS: Students are advised to take the training
very seriously and follow the under mentioned instructions. The final placement of the students
depends a great deal on their performance during the summer training.

01. All the required documents to be furnished by the student should be duly completed
within the stipulated time. The summer training project shall not be accepted without the
submission of the required documents.

organization’s designated officer as and when needed.

07. Should you require any clarification or assistance, I would be glad to get in touch with
you just as my colleagues Mr. Rajeev Madan (0124-4750507, Mob. 9310703750,

09. These guidelines have been revised with the experience gained from students completed
their Summer Training during 2009 and hence that knowledge has been added to enhance the
benefits to students of these Guidelines.

The organization where a student would be undergoing summer training has shown a
kind gesture to provide this opportunity. So a student must show sufficient interest towards work
and make every effort to learn. The system, traditions and culture prevalent in the organization
are to be followed strictly and a student has to adapt to it. The competency shown by a student
may lead to a future career in the same organization; so, he/she should try to make a strong
positive impression. Students are advised to observe the following:
1) To be punctual and regular
2) To behave in a responsible way
3) To respect their seniors
4) To maintain dignity and conduct that brings good name to the
institution.

NOTE: Summer Training report duly completed in all respect should be deposited to the Institute
within 20 days of completion of Training, (latest by 20 th August, 2010) of completion of the
training.
Any indiscipline/misconduct on part of the trainee will be seriously viewed and an appropriate
action will be taken as per the rules of the Institute.

If the training of a student is terminated or he/she is not allowed to continue the training by the
industry for the reasons of misconduct or indiscipline, such student will be considered as having
not completed his / her training successfully
