Signs and Symptoms

Early Symptoms

Objective:

1. Chills – are feeling of coldness accompanied by shivering. They are

arise with or without fever. Without fever, chills typically arise after
exposure to a cold environment. Essentially any condition that may
produce fever (including infections and cancers) can result in chills
along with fever.

2. Rash - rash is a symptom of HIV that usually occurs within the first
two months after becoming infected with the virus. Like other initial
symptoms of HIV, it’s easy to mistake this rash for a symptom of
another viral infection. Therefore, it’s important to learn how to
identify this rash and how to treat it.

3. Night Sweat - Night sweats can be a symptom of both early and late
HIV infection. But as there can be many other causes of night
sweats, their presence on their own does not indicate that a person
is HIV positive.

4. Fatigue - is a general term used to describe feelings of exhaustion,

sleepiness, and lack of energy. It is a common problem among HIV-
infected people. Fatigue is not a disease, but rather a symptom of
disease. Some people suffer from isolated or periodic bouts of
exhaustion.
