Lab 1:

Analysis:

This experiment was conducted to analyze the response of the Piezo sensor to vibrations. The
group configured the Mechkit to use the on-board Piezo sensor. Then, the sensor was manually
perturbed. The first test was to flick it, and observe the response. Next, the sensor was moved up and
down slowly, and recorded the response. The group observed that the voltage reading of the sensor
varied on the movement of the brass disc weight.

Conclusion:

The group therefore conclude that piezoelectric sensors are good in detecting even the slightest
vibrations or movements. The output of the sensor varied when the group flicked it or moved it up and
down slowly. This sensor is very useful in the technology today, especially in infrastructure observations
such as bridges and high-rise structures.

Lab 2:

Analysis:

For this part, the group manually perturbed the sensor, and measured its power spectrum
response. This process generated the natural frequency of the sensor. The moment the sensor was
perturbed, the sensor generated the biggest voltage values and as time pass, the output of the sensor
became smaller and smaller as the vibration diminished.

Conclusion:

The group can conclude in this part that the output voltage of the sensor depends on the force
applied to it, and as the movement of the sensor stopped, it also lost its output. The natural frequency is
the response when it is subjected to a single source of force once.
