Astore products are manufactured generally in accordance with the following standards:
PVC-U Pipe - BS EN 1452 ABS Pipe - BS 5391 part 1
PVC-U Fittings - BS 4346 part 1 ABS Fittings - BS 5392 part 1
Threaded Fittings - BS21 ISO7. DIN 2199
Materials
imperial
Materials used for the manufacture of Astore pressure pipe fittings and valves are selected for their non toxic
properties and suitability for potable water as required by the appropriate international authorities.
Both ABS and PVC-U comply with ISO 727 and the requirements of the World Health Organisation for potable
water transportation.
PVC-U & ABS

ABS
All material used conforms to the toxicological requirements of the British Plastics Federation/British Industrial
Biological Research Association Code of Practice for Food Usage 45/5. It also fulfils the E.E.C. requirements for
plastics materials in contact with foodstuffs.
UK Water Regulations Advisory Scheme:
Approved product for potable water. License No. 0501069
PVC-U
Tin stabilised compounds are used exclusively for PVC-U products and all formulations conform to the E.E.C.
safety criteria for vinyl chloride monomer (CVN).
Drinking Water Inspectorate
Astore PVC-U is approved for use within public water supplies and by the Secretary of State.
Astore PVC-U is listed in the ‘list of approved products’ published by the DWI. Astore manufactures two ranges
of pipe. Only the Durapipe UK (RPR and RP1 codes) branded pipe is fully approved.
Gasket Seals and Seats

Gaskets are made from Nitrile Rubber, O-Ring seals are made from EPDM, seats are PTFE except where stated
otherwise.

All Pressure Ratings given below are at 20°C.

Product Size Pressure Rating Astore Solvent Cement must be used
PVC-U Fittings - Solvent Cement 1/2" – 6" 15 bar exclusively for the fabrication of an Astore
PVC-U Fittings - Solvent Cement 8" – 12" 9 bar Pipework System. Performance guarantees
PVC-U Fittings - Threaded up to 2" 12 bar are null and void if other solvent cements
are used.

PVC-U Pipe Class D 11/4" – 8" 12 bar Technical Information

Materials
Materials used for manufacture of Astore pressure pipe fittings and valves are selected for their non toxic
properties and suitability for potable water as required by the appropriate international authorities.
Both ABS and PVC-U comply with ISO 727 and the requirements of the World Health Organisation for potable
water transportation.
Drinking Water Inspectorate
Astore PVC-U is approved for use within public water supplies and by the Secretary of State.
Astore PVC-U is listed in the “list of approved products” published by the DWI.
PVC-U
Tin stabilised compounds are used exclusively for PVC-U products and all formulations conform to the E.E.C.
safety criteria for vinyl chloride monomer (CVN).
Gasket Seals and Seats

Gaskets are made from Nitrile Rubber, O-Ring seals are made from EPDM, seats are PTFE except where
stated otherwise.
