myMaker Robotics Challenge 2018

1. Objective
IoT Robotics Challenge 2018 is a strategy game which required participants to collect resources (ping pong ball)
for city development. This challenge is creating an opportunity and platform for the community to explore and
learn about the IoT Robotics technology. Participants have to construct a mobile robot and operate it based on
wireless technology to complete the rescue mission within the specific FIVE minutes in any possible way. The
team who able to obtain the highest points will be the winner.

Team Structure: This game is taken as Open Category. Each team consists of one (1) instructor and maximum
of two (2) members.

2. Robot Specifications
2.1 Dimensions and Weight
2.1.1 The full extension size of the robots shall NOT exceed 250mm(L) x 200mm(W) x 500mm.
2.1.2 The MAXIMUM weight of the robot is 5kg.
2.2 Restriction on the Robot Design
2.2.1 Robots shall NOT employ any active weapon. Projectile weapons or saw-blades are prohibited.
2.2.2 Robots shall NOT damage the arena deliberately.
2.2.3 Robots shall NOT throw liquid or powder or other substances at the opponent.
2.2.4 Robots should NOT secure itself on the ring surface by using, suction cups, diaphragms, sticky
treads, glue or other such devices.
2.2.5 The robot is powered with NOT greater than 12 Volt by single or combination battery.
2.2.6 The robot is allowed to divided into sub-units.
2.2.7 If a laser is used, it shall be of Class 2 or less. In designing and preparing the laser, full care must
be taken to protect all persons at the venue from harm during all procedures. In particular, the
beam must be so oriented that it cannot shine into the eyes of spectators.
2.3 Control Method
2.3.1 The robot SHALL be wireless remoted control via Bluetooth or WiFi communication at
Control Zone. Autonomous robot is NOT allowed in this game.
2.3.2 Each robot can use WiFi built-in controller board (such as Arduino WiFi, Raspberry Pi, ESPresso,
NODEMCU and so on) to communicate between operator and robot. The robot should be design
to ease the inspection for mentioned product at any time.
2.3.3 Any 2.4G RC controller, PS2 controller, Bluetooth module are allowed.
2.3.4 Participants should take the necessary considerations on security of their own wireless
communication if any. Organizers will not be responsible for outside wireless interferences. NO
external physical intervention is allowed

font size is Arial 24.

3. Arena Specifications
3.1 The game field is made of mild steel/wood/acrylic which measures 2400mm(L) × 1200mm(W).
3.2 There are obstacles (uneven surfaces) as the terrain of the game field. The maximum height of
uneven terrains (ground clearance) is about 25mm.
3.3 Robots are required to place at starting zone (colour region) before the game start.

4. Game Play
4.1 Game Procedure

4.1.3 Initially, the resources are locked in the reservoir. Participants required to unlock it using the RFID
block. There are 4 blocks allocated in the arena. The resources will drop off once the reservoir is
opened. Participants are required to collect as many resources as possible for the sake of city
development. REMINDER: The resources in the arena is SHARED. Try your best to grab as much
as possible.
4.1.4 There a will be the goal area (RED Zone) to store the resources (orange colour ping pong balls).
Whereas there are 6 PVC pipes indicate as tree, and participants are required to put the resources
(white colour ping pong balls) on top of each PVC pipes. REMINDER: The PVC pipes is ranged
10 – 15cm height with 1.5” diameter.
4.1.5 Scoring for those resources which allocated in the predefined zone:

• Orange Colour Ping Pong Ball in the RED Zone: 10 points will be awarded to the team.
• White Colour Ping Pong Ball on the PVC Pipes: 30 points will be awarded to the team.
4.1.6 There may have collision happen in the game. Participants are required to do extra protection on
their robot, circuit board and power source.
4.1.7 Team member who control the robot (operator) MUST stay at Control Zone before the game start
till end of the match.
4.1.8 Setup crews shall wait near the game field and ready for retries of robot after match has begun.
4.1.9 NO RETRY is allowed once the game started.
4.2 Match Winner

the resources in the Goal Area and on top of PVC Pipe in any possible way within 5 minutes.
4.2.2 If neither team could not be achieved the task at the end of 5 minutes match, the winner shall be
decided in following order of priority:

• The team that has collected the HIGHEST total point is the winner.
