Qualifications for entry: A degree in an appropriate subject, or such other qualifications, plus relevant work experience, as may be
approved for this purpose by the Academic Standards Committee (Postgraduate) on the recommendation of the Head of the
School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. For entry to the Diploma stage candidates must have a pass in all courses of the
Certificate. For entry to the MSc stage candidates must have a pass in all courses for the Diploma.

Duration: Attendance shall be on a part-time basis, and shall comprise, for each stage of the programme, a series of full-day
lectures delivered every third weekend during term-time, held at the University. The total study time for the complete programme
shall be not less than three academic years and not more than five academic years.

The course can also be studied by distance learning. Delivery is entirely by the internet, from the University’s website. The course
mirrors the part-time campus course using the same course content, submitting the same assessments and sitting the same
exams. There is no requirement to attend the University when studying by distance learning.

Content: The aims of the programme are to provide education and training at postgraduate level for students employed in a wide
range of industrial sectors who are involved in project management, and to improve the work performance of the students by
increasing their knowledge and understanding of the many topics that make up project management.

Assessment: By a combination of written examination and course work, as prescribed for each course. In addition, MSc
candidates must submit a dissertation on their project, and may be required to undergo an oral examination. The degree of MSc
shall not be awarded to a candidate who fails to achieve a CAS mark of 9 or above in EG 5903 or EG 5554, irrespective of their
performance in other courses.

The Certificate and the Diploma shall be awarded to those candidates who achieve the prescribed standard in the relevant courses
for these awards but who fail to satisfy the requirements of progression to, or who elect not to proceed to, the Diploma or MSc
programme, respectively.
