Software Engineering Paradigm

Rapid evolution of technology is something we can’t deny. From a simple math calculation

up to the limitless innovation are seen by our eyes through days pass. These innovation leads to

serving us an ease to our daily lives. People trust innovators of the future, the engineer who will

try to transform the future a better living. But in order to meet these goals models, rules, and

paradigms should take for consideration. Breaching these could lead to catastrophe, a failure that

can destroy not only the brighter side of technology but also the advancement given to human

being.

Just like the Movie “I, Robot”, an eye-opener in the advancement of technology and the

future we are heading to. It depicts the consequence of choosing an incorrect engineering software

paradigm. The company, USR, used Prototyping Model in innovating artificial intelligence.

Requirements are gathered, problem are presented that making robot with its AI has tremendous

help in everyday lives of the people and its system was conceptualized. As the second stage of

prototyping model follows they build the prototyope. Costumer evaluation appears to pass and

satisfy the needs of the costumer (people) because it is obvious that robot would be a great help.

And the robot NS-4 was built. But these innovation was not finished yet, refinement of the robot

is made and NS-5 was endorse to the people. However these invention is not the end, V.I.K.I., the

Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence of the film that is serves as the domain and storage of every

software changes. These interactive AI believes that the existing law which is “Protect the people” is

needed to improve to something “kill the people”, protecting them by their irrational logical reasoning.

These improvement was refine without consulting to the inventor, the people. Resulting to disaster to

human evolution.
 But these improvements was predict by Dr. Lanning who altered his way of modeling the

robot, and use the Spiral Model as his basis for evolving the robots. As this Method emphasizes

the importance of risk analysis before conducting the project. But he has no control of the

innovation anymore,it’s too late.

Realizing the importance of Software Engineering Model in making a project gives as a

reminder that we should think, explore and analyze the risk of what the project is heading before

proceeding to the actual product as this will contribute in either destroying or helping the nation.
