Problems for Tutorial 2
To an amplifier of 60 dB gain, a feedback of B = 0.005 is applied. What
would be the change in overall gain of the feedback amplifier if the internal
amplifier is subjected to a gain variation of 12%?
A feedback amplifier is to be designed to have an overall voltage gain of
40 dB and a sensitivity of 5% to internal amplifier gain variations. Find the
required loop gain and forward path gain.
An amplifier has gain A = 512 and input = 0.012 V. Feedback is added
until 0.95 V is required as input to get the same output. Determine the gain
with feedback and also the value of B.
‘An amplifier without feedback has an output voltage of 50 V with second
harmonic distortion of 10% for an input voltage of 0.5 V. Calculate
(i) the feedback factor B to reduce the distortion to 1%
(ii) the resulting gain A; and
(iii) the new input voltage required to restore V, to 50 V.
A feedback amplifier has a closed loop gain of - 50 and an increase in
forward path gain to four times the original value causes the closed loop
gain to increase to - 51. Is the feedback positive or negative? Find the
feedback fraction (B) and the original forward path gain
‘An amplifier without feedback has a voltage gain of 1000 and lower and upper 3dB
frequencies of 100Hz and 100kHz respectively. If a feedback of 20dB is introduced,
determine the gain and bandwidth of the feedback amplifier.
