 Provides a high quality contemporary-style business education that blends a global
perspective with national cultures and is relevant to the business needs of Egypt and the
region.
 Provides programs that encourage the development of an entrepreneurial spirit that
emphasizes creativity, innovation, individual initiative and teamwork
 Provides a learning environment that fosters faculty/student communication and promotes
lifelong learning and career development
 Encourages faculty development activities that improve teaching, maintain competence and
that keep faculty current with ideas and concepts in their field.
 Seeks to develop a portfolio of intellectual contributions to learning and pedagogy, to
practice, and to the theory and knowledge base of the disciplines.

Course Outline and Course Objectives


The course aims at acquainting the student with the fundamentals of the managerial process with
a focus on planning, organizing, leading, controlling, communication, motivation, and team
building. It also aims at developing an understanding of how organizations are managed; that is,
what tasks managers must perform to keep the organization running both effectively and
efficiently, how managers accomplish these tasks and how they apply their skills and knowledge
to meet the organizational objectives. In addition, the course emphasizes the environmental
constraints imposed on the Egyptian manager and attempts to explore ways of applying the
principles of management in Egyptian enterprises.

Course Guidelines:
1. Students are to read the assigned chapter or readings beforehand in order to enrich the class
discussion.
2. Maximum class participation is expected and encouraged.
3. Project and assignments are group and individual work.
4. It is possible that this outline will undergo slight changes at the beginning of the semester .If
this happens the new outline will be posted on blackboard
5. Internal group assessment may apply

A- = 90-92%
Mid-Term I 20% B+ = 87-89%
Mid-Term II 25% B = 84-89%
Final 25% B- = 80-83%
Assignments 25% C+ = 77-79%
C = 74-76%
Attendance * 5% C- = 70-73%
D+ = 65-69%
D = 60-64%
Total 100% F = Less than 60%

Attendance
Students are expected to attend class and to be very punctual. Students may not normally receive
credit for a course if more than three weeks of classes are missed. Missing exams without an
official excuse will involve a penalty
