Assalamu ‘alaikum.

For the first time, I would like to thankfull to Allah, He has given me mercy and

blessing. Secondly, I would like to thankfull to Prof. A. Effendi Kadarisman, Ph.D,

because, you taugh me about Advanced Applied Linguistics, that impressed me to

learn more how micro and macro-linguistic theories shape and influence the fields of

TEFL and SLA. This is part of linguistic such as Grammar Errors that I and my group

have presented last week.

In my self reflection after following your lecturing more than 1 month, I am very

excited to learn and improving my knowledge about linguistic scholars and followed

by linguists such as of Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis, Sociolinguistics, and Cultural

Linguistics. Why ? Because, when I was studying S1 at Universitas PGRI Banyuwangi

2001-2005, I didn’t understand well, and also when I study S2 in Universitas Islam

Malang 2010-2012, I learned about Applied Linguistics at that time but I really didn’t

understand. Unexpected, when I accepted as S3 student in State University of Malang

2017, I felt so different atmosphere learning here.

Regarding to self reflection, and after heard from your explanation and

suggestion last week, I wrote some notes specially to improve my knowledge about

grammar etc, there are :

1. I have to know Linguistic category and Error Type and how to give corrective

feedback, its happen with me, when I speak or write English sometime I forget to

put article and ommission of ‘s in possessive case and also giving more + er in

using comparative adjective / adverb correctly, for example :

text, when I make mistaken than I have to correct exactly.

I hope after learning from your lecture for 1 semester, I can explore and

challages my knowledge and developed my Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTs) in

teaching and learning in ELT, beside that I have to improved my English language by

communicate with my classmate and my lecturers during I am living in Malang.

Wassalamu ‘alaikum.
