As a lifelong LULAC member, I have seen our organization fight many battles to
improve the lives of Latinos in America and Puerto Rico. My Campaign for
National President is to ensure that LULAC continues to be the largest and
strongest organization in fighting for social justice and civil rights in the USA,
not just talk about it. Do it!
That is why I’m proud to announce today that my campaign has been endorsed
by virtually every past living President of LULAC. Leadership is about
experience and a proven track record of accomplishments. Let me mention just
a few during my past 27 years which have prepared me:
· 1991 - Elected to Dallas City Council at age 31, the youngest in Dallas history
until then. As a Councilman, sponsored and helped establish the first Latino
Cultural Center in America.
· 1993 - Authored the first anti-stalking municipal ordinance in the nation to
protect women from domestic violence.
· 2006 – As President of LULAC 102, helped organize one of the largest civil
rights marches in American history. More than 500,000 people marched
through downtown Dallas and helped defeat one of the worst an anti-
immigrant bills ever.
· 2011 – Traveled to Arizona and helped to recall State Senator Russell Pierce,
author of much of the hate legislation in the state targeting Latinos. Pierce was
the first Senator in U.S history to be recalled. Donated funds and supported the
defeat of America’s worst racist Sheriff, Joe Arpaio.
You see for me, fighting for social justice is not about an election. I’ve had those
victories. This candidacy and your decision is about our future and doing what’s
right for LULAC.
LULAC needs less BS and more courageous and positive leadership. Our past
leaders know that any jackass can knock down a casa, but it takes leadership
with a team to build a strong one
I ask for your support, advice, and vote for National President. Join us in
helping bring back LULAC, stronger, bigger and better than ever. To quote
President John Quincy Adams, “If your actions inspire others to dream more,
learn more, do more, and become more, then that is leadership.”
Let us join together now in this opportunity to lead our great and historic
organization in 2018.
Hasta la Victoria!
Sincerely,
Domingo Garcia
