Rizal visited Singapore four times. The first of his many visits to
foreign lands was a two-day stopover in Singapore in 1882, where
he went on a sightseeing of the city.

From December 1891 to June 1892, he lived with his family at No.
5 D’Aguilar St., No. 2, Rednaxela Terrace, where he opened a
medical clinic as an ophthalmic surgeon.
“Dr. Jose Rizal (1861-1896) National hero of the Philippines lived
in this area with his family from December 1891 to June 1892.”
Japan
A bust of Rizal was erected on the site of the grand hotel where
he stayed in 1888. The marker reads:
“DR. JOSE RIZAL NATIONAL HERO OF THE PHILIPPINES
STAYED IN 1888 AT TOKYO HOTEL
LOCATED AT THIS SITE. UNVEILED JUNE 19, 1961”

Rizal first saw America on April 28, 1888, and visited the cities of
New York, Oakland, Reno, Chicago and Boston.

This statue of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, by sculptor Carl Ruiz,
was dedicated on College Walk mall, on the corner of North
Beretania Street and College Walk, on December 30, 1983.

On June 19, 1887 Rizal treated Viola to a blowout. It was his 26th
birthday so Rizal and Viola spent 15 delightful days in Geneva.

Rizal was the 22nd generation descendant of the first generation
Ke family whose roots are in Shang Guo village in Jinjiang. Rizal's
great-great grandfather was Domingo Lameo, or Ke Yi Nan in
Chinese, who immigrated to the Philippines.
The Rizal Shrine stands as a symbol of friendship between China
and the Philippines. According to the Knights of Rizal, it is the
biggest Rizal Shrine outside of the Philippines.
In 1999, then-President Joseph Estrada and then-Chinese
Ambassador Fu Ying laid the foundation for the memorial.
