A big part of Kelsey’s experience at Roosevelt Elementary has been working closely with her mentor teacher
and classroom teachers to ensure classroom experiences are based on specific learners’ developmental
levels. She has attended several IEP meetings and team meetings and contributes often.

Indicator 2.1 - Allows learners multiple ways to demonstrate learning sensitive to diverse experiences,
while holding high expectations for all.

Kelsey has demonstrated the ability to identify individual learner differences and had used strategies to
encourage learners to do their best. She delivers instruction and adapts as needed for the students.
Indicator 3.1 - Develops learning experiences that engage and support students as self-directed
learners who internalize classroom routines, expectations, and procedures.
Indicator 3.2 - Collaborates with students to establish a positive learning climate of openness,
respectful interactions, support, and inquiry.

The established classroom schedule, routines were adhered to daily. Kelsey has built relationships with the
students and the teachers she has been working with. She is working on strategies for setting behavioral
expectations and positive reinforcement. She addresses inappropriate student behavior. She paces
instruction appropriately and adjusts the pace as needed.
Indicator 4.1 - Bases instruction on accurate content knowledge using multiple representations of
concepts and appropriate academic language.
Kelsey understands the central concept, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline, and used
appropriate academic language. She has modeled and supported learners in the content areas.
Indicator 5.1 - Uses data sources to assess the effectiveness of instruction and to make adjustments in
planning and instruction.
Indicator 5.2 - Documents student progress and provides descriptive feedback to student,
parent/guardian, and other stakeholders in a variety of ways.
Indicator 5.3 - Designs or selects pre-assessments, formative, and summative assessments in a variety
of formats that align to learning objectives and engage the learner in demonstrating knowledge and
skills.

Kelsey has learned the Core Phonics Survey and has administered it at least two different times for K and
1st grade. She has also had an opportunity to do the DIBELS assessment for different students in the 2nd
and 3rd grade. Kelsey does daily formative assessment through listening, observing, and student written
work.
Indicator 6.1 - Demonstrates knowledge of the Utah Core Standards and references them in short- and
long-term planning.
Indicator 6.2 - Integrates cross-disciplinary skills into instruction to purposefully engage learners in
applying content knowledge.
Planning instruction to meet learning goals of students has been observed in Kelsey’s teaching daily. She
has aligned every lesson with the Utah Core Standards appropriate for each level of students. The
prescribed programs work on a variety of skills. Kelsey has developed learning experiences integrating
elements from reading, writing and science content areas.
Indicator 7.2 - Provides multiple opportunities for students to develop higher-order and meta-cognitive
skills.
Indicator 7.3 - Supports and expands each learner’s communication skills through reading, writing,
listening, and speaking.
Indicator 7.4 - Uses a variety of available and appropriate technology and resources to support

Instructional strategies have been used to provide students opportunities to listen, speak, read and write.
Instruction has been adjusted based on the needs of the students. Materials were selected for each lesson
to provide students the chance to see, feel, and say what was necessary to meet the objective of the
lessons.
Indicator 8 - Adapts and improves practice based on reflection and new learning.
Kelsey was able to listen and make necessary adjustments in instruction given by Courtney and Jane. She
applied feedback to how she taught and delivery of instruction. She reflected on lessons and how they went
and was able to make changes during and after the lesson to allow student growth and understanding.

affects the school and larger educational community.

Kelsey has done a fantastic job at collaborating with the faculty. She has been attentive in meetings and
has been an asset to our school. The faculty, staff and community of Roosevelt find her to be a positive
leader at the school.

General Comments:
Kelsey has learned a lot about differentiating. How to do it in a small setting where the students have lot of
needs. She has also learned how to work with students of diverse backgrounds emotionally and socially.
She has built relationships with students and teachers in the school.
Goals:
Kelsey wants to continue to work on having a positive environment. Using positive language to promote
student engagement and enhance learning opportunities.
