Today’s accountants are masters of a varied
art, with knowledge spanning finance,
legislation, and more. But how did it all begin?

Let us try to visit the past by reading this

simple dialogue. I will read the part of the
father and you as the son. Please pay attention
because I will be asking some questions while
we read this.

Importance of Accounting
One afternoon, a 16 year-old son asked his
father.
Student A: Son: “Father, what do we call the book
of books that is commonly called the Word of
God?”
Teacher: Father: It is the Bible son. How nice
of you to ask about that. I remember before
the discovery of microorganisms and their role
of spreading disease, the Bible which is God’s
word recommended hygienic practices that are
still relevant today. Please read Deuteronomy
23: 12, 13. Student B: Son: “12 A private places should be
designated for use outside the camp, and there is
where you should go.”
“13 A peg should be part of your equipment.
When you squat outside, you should dig a hole
with it and then cover your excrement.”
Father: In order for us to stay fit and healthy. Father, what does this mean?
The Bible suggested that we need to
construct a comfort room to dispose the
Human wastes in a toilet bowl. Student C: Son: In Biblical times, it showed that
God is excellent in the field of Science and Health!
My course is accounting and we are trained to be
good in keeping records. Father, if God is good in
science and health, do you also believe that God is
systematic in all things?
Father: Yes, of course! His most amazing project
was the “Creation!” He recorded all the
activities systematically for 6 days. Indeed!
This will only tell us that He is a God of Student D: Son: God might have been the greatest
arrangement and not of disorder. That is why accountant!
we also can perfectly see how our parts of our
body are amazingly placed in its acceptable
order.
Father: Yes, my son. I will read to you the
evidence found at Matthew 10: 30 :
“30 But even the hairs of your head are all Student E: Son: “God is the founder of accounting.
numbered.” He is recording, measuring, numbering all things
that are accountable even the hairs of our head.

What can you say about this dialogue? Student will appreciate the lesson.
Very Good! Now let us try to determine and
assess the need and importance of accounting
as the language of business. Students will listen attentively and interact in the

The Industrial revolution in 19th century

basis) At the end of the year, the
businessman should know his progress.
 Does the business earning profit?
 Or suffering from loss?
 Businesses will have numerous
transactions and absolutely not possible
to recall all these transactions. A
