FAULT DETECTION PANEL

MODEL 17FM384

DESCRIPTION
The 17FM384 Fault Detection Panel is part of the
propulsion and control systems used on Off–Highway
Vehicles. Using an input signal from a 17ET33A1 ripple
transformer connected in the alternator field circuit, this
panel is designed to remove propulsion power from the
vehicle if a diode fails in the Power Rectifier panel.

The panel consists of a printed circuit board on which

are mounted semi–conductor devices and a terminal
board. See Fig. 1 for an outline drawing of the
17FM384A1 panel and Fig. 2 for an outline drawing of
the 17FM384B1 and C1 panels. Panel construction is
essentially the same for both panels; however, the
17FM384B1 has an additional Terminal Point (G) on the

17FM384C1 panel has RTV sealer applied to form a
seal between the FDR relay and the circuit board. Once energized, the FDR relay remains picked up
and sealed in until B+ is removed from the panel.
