Dear Selection Committee,

My name is Matthew Ybarra and I currently teach Special Education and coach track at El Capitan High
School. Jadelyn Hicks has asked me to write a letter of recommendation on her behalf and I am more than happy to
comply. I have had the pleasure working with Jadelyn this past year and can speak regarding her academics and
work ethic.
Jadelyn is currently a senior here at El Capitan high school and has been part of the Pacific Club for the
past year. During her time as part of the Pacific Club she has exhibited a dedicated work ethic. She comes to work
ready to learn and is always looking for ways to improve her skills by seeking out help or advice from others.
Jadelyn also volunteers in the severely handicapped classroom and is a mentor to students. Jadelyn has also been a
part of the FFA program at El Capitan for the past four years. Jadelyn is motivated to succeed and brings that
attitude to all her activities.. This dedication to her classes and extracurricular activities has earned her a role as a
leader and mentor.
Jadelyn is a dedicated and an outstanding student. She has maintained a 3.0 GPA since her sophomore year
here at El Capitan High School. While attending El Capitan High School she has been a Pacific Club, student
mentor, teacher’s assistant and FFA member. She has provided leadership to students she interacts with as well as
members of her clubs/ organizations. Jadelyn is a well-organized student who understands the importance of
balancing school and extracurricular activities with her everyday life. This balance has prepared her for the future
that she has ahead for herself.
Overall, Jadelyn has proven to be a phenomenal student in and outside of the classroom. Jadelyn is
currently applying to colleges to continue with her education and pursue her dream of becoming a social worker.
College is an important next step to her. She is motivated to attend college. She wants to make her family proud and
continue her success in a higher education. With all of her accomplishments and understanding of the what it takes
to succeed Jadelyn is well prepared to move on. It is my recommendation that Jadelyn will be great representative of
any scholarships or employment that she has applied for. If you have any questions or would like to know more
about Jadelyn feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Matthew Ybarra
