Mechanics for the ​Poll Piece Arrangement Competition

For Harmonya’s 2018 concert: Nostalgia 2

1. Any Harmonya member​ ​can submit at least one (1) entry for the competition. G lang po kahit alumni na
or inactive, as long as na mapapatunayan na member ng Harmonya.
2. Arrangers can work together as a group, however an arranger cannot join multiple arranging groups.

3. Please observe the following formats when submitting your entries:
a. File Name​: Les Misérables (​composer surname/s)​
b. Title ​(font and size): Sylfaen 22
c. Composer ​(font and size): Sylfaen 10
4. Arrangers are only limited to the available instruments of the ensemble:
a. Violins d. Bandurrias
b. Cello e. Octavinas
c. Double Bass f. Guitars
5. Arrangers are also limited to these percussion instruments of the ensemble, however maximum lines
for simultaneously playing percussionists are only limited to three (3). Tatlo lang po ang percussionists
natin, maawa naman po tayo sa kanila. Available percussion instruments are:
a. Glocken d. Snare Drum
b. Triangle e. Bass Drum
c. Cymbals f. Djembe
6. Arrangers shall work with a musical tapestry (e.g. Medley, Overture, Mash-up) from the movie Les
Misérables, as suggested by the poll. Arrangers can choose at least three (3) from this selection of songs:
a. Look Down e. Stars i. One Day More
b. I Dreamed a Dream f. Red and Black j. Bring Him Home
c. Castle on a Cloud g. A Heart Full of Love k. Do You Hear The
d. Master of the House h. On My Own People Sing?
7. Submitted scores shall have a performance duration of​ four (4) to six (6) minutes only.
8. Please remove any extra-musical indicators on the piece that might reflect the identity of the composer.
Only the arranger’s name/s are allowed to appear, which shall be on the right-hand side of the piece, just
below the title before the first system. Copyright-notice texts shall be removed temporarily when
submitting entries, and shall soon be granted back to the arrangers once the competition is finished.
9. To retain the anonymity of the work, entries (in .sib format) must first be submitted to ​Mr​. ​Kian Beltran
through his FB Messenger. Kian will be renaming each entries with an assigned composer number, then
will be forwarding the renamed files to the Musical Adviser for judging.
10. Deadline for submission of entries is on​ April 2, 2018 at 1:00pm​ and shall be strictly observed.
11. Failure to comply on the above guidelines shall mean disqualification of entry.
12. In case no one participated or qualifies in the competition, the Musical Adviser shall automatically be
required to do the arrangement of the poll piece.
13. The Musical Adviser shall also have the authority to decide, together with the respective arranger/s, if
the winning score/s require further editions and/or rearrangements.
14. Announcement of the grand prize winner/s shall be on ​April 3, 2018​. The Musical Director will be
posting the winning piece on the Facebook group ​NOSTALGIA 2 (Performers)​.
15. Grand prize for the competition is ​PHP 1000.00 ​only. In cases of multiple winners, the prize shall be
divided among them.
