To Whom It May Concern:

Kendra Brenner has been a student teacher in my high school resource room class for Spring Semester 2018. She has been
part of a co-teaching team within the science department, as well as a case manager with nineteen students on her caseload
that have all types of disabilities including: autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, emotional
impairments and other health impairments for attention deficit disorders. Kendra has been part of teaching Transitional
English with Language Live, Academic Skills, Academic Resource Center and co-teaching Chemistry.

Ms. Brenner had the experience of teaching reading strategies for fiction and nonfiction text, an inquiry based reading unit,
vocabulary, writing, reading comprehension and transition planning within a special education setting. During this time she
planned and implemented the common core standards and individual student IEP goal work for whole group, small groups
and individualized student needs. Kendra developed the classroom instruction, formative and summative assessments, and
student learning targets along with student self evaluations aligned to the curriculum. She successfully demonstrated
awareness of different learning styles and adequately adjusted assignments to meet the varied needs of each student as an
individual learner. Kendra’s lessons were thoroughly prepared and implemented.

Kendra’s experience in teaching transitional English included an inquiry based research unit on Nelson Mandela and
presenting the research to the class. This involved teaching the elements of researching, developing a note-taking system,
digging deeper into research and analyzing research to find credible sources. She completed this unit using technology to
engage students and support their understanding of the concepts being presented. She made accommodations for individual
students that required more support by providing them visual examples, graphic organizers, use of assistive technology to
help organize their writing and scaffolded instruction as it was needed.

While managing the resource caseload, Kendra helped lead parent teacher conferences, attended meetings with ancillary staff
to help monitor behavior plans, wrote IEP’s, monitored IEP goals and objectives, attended parent meetings to discuss
individual student behaviors and attended all staff professional development and professional learning team meetings.
Kendra also went above expectations and worked one on one with students before and after school who came in for academic
help, attended Student Senate meetings, participated in the staff basketball game, and helped with charity week.

Kendra possesses a positive and compassionate personality. She has a great rapport with all the students she has worked
with. Kendra is professional, punctual, articulate and always ready with a smile and kind words. She has been accepted as a
strong working member of our team. Kendra has a positive working relationship with our co-teachers, special education
ancillary staff, administration and parents.

I am confident that Kendra Brenner will be an asset to any staff she works with. She is confident, knowledgeable, and has
the skills of a seasoned teacher. I know she will continue to grow and is going to make a difference in the lives of the
students she works with.
