Early Childhood Educators of Tasmania

are excited to present:

David Gilkes:
Giraffes in the City Project
How do the children see the city? Is it a place in which they
are visible or feel they belong? How can a city support and
celebrate young children’s identities as competent, curious
and creative citizens? In this presentation, David Gilkes will
share the journey of a project entitled Giraffes in the City,
which was co-constructed with children four and five years
of age and explored children’s relationships and connections
to the city of Hobart. Drawing inspiration from the Reggio
Emilia educational project, David will also unpack some ideas
around documentation and the hundred languages of children.
