What is DualFid Star for?
DualFid

DualFid Star

•Helps accurate identification of fluid contacts (Gas-Oil Contact, Oil-

Water contact ) while drilling
•Provides Formation fluid characterization while drilling
•Identifies formation testing points
•Supports LWD data or provides insurance data in case of LWD data
unavailability
3
Utilization of the Data
Can we get more value out of the data?
5 Hexane
7 Benzene
In the interval between nC5 and nC8 we have identified 32 gas 8 Cyclohexane
species (single-branched, multi-branched, cycloalkanes, 10 Heptane
11 MethylCyclohexane
aromatics). 14 Toluene

Conclusions

• Extraction and detection procedures are crucial for a proper gas analysis.
• Heavy gases analysis extends the high-resolution chromatography of DualFid.
• Measurement of heavy gases and analysis of their ratios improve Real-Time
formation evaluation.
• Heavy hydrocarbon components confirm and often better define fluid contacts
identified by light gases chromatography.
• Identification and characterization of formation fluids is possible thanks to a
full advanced gas detection system.
• Formation fluid signatures are defined more accurately.

Track record: since 2009 more than 100 wells in 4 continents: ENI, Total,
Chevron, KOC, Wintershall, Maersk, OMV/Petrom, Cepsa, Repsol, etc…
