Advanced Compression of data: (Performance benefit)

Reduces the size of EBS Database by compressing the data. Works transparently with
EBS Application. Reduces Disk I/O.
2. Automatic Data Optimization:
A Heat Map feature monitors database read/write activity enabling DBAs to easily
identify the data that is hot/warm/cold in terms of access frequency. Also smart
compression and storage tiering, automatically compress and tier data based on the
activity and age of the data.
3. On-line Datafile movement ( DBA task enhancement)
Datafile can be moved without downtime or putting the tablespace offline.
4. Table Point-in-Time Recovery (DBA task enhancement)
Individual tables can be recovered using RMAN Backup. Prior to 12c, the whole rman
backup has to be restored on a separate environment and individual tables have to be
exported, which is a time consuming task.
5. Multi-tenant database:
One Core DB (CDB) can be created with multiple Pluggable DBs (PDB). This PDBs can be
easily moved across CDB.
6. In-Memory Caching:
Large amount of data cached in memory in a compressed columnar/row format, which
improves performance and server resource optimization. This feature is built into the
oracle kernel and transparent to applications.
7. Flexible ASM: (Flex ASM)
It is now possible to have storage server only with ASM Software and provides storage
to multiple DBs. Consolidating all the storage requirement into one storage server and
thus by reducing storage cost and load-balancing the data.
8. Increased performance on Globally Distributed Databases: (GDB)
Before 12c database, Globally Distributed Databases are connected and Load-balanced
through external hardware/software products, which is highly in-efficient. 12c DB
eliminates the requirement of external hardware/software products for load-balancing
Distributed Databases.
9. Oracle Support:
11g DB is in End-of-Life support.

Notes:
