ABSTRACT

Work immersion becomes the required subject for the Senior High

School graduating learners. Through this, the learners experience the life of

being on duty within the given duration. Each of the trainees are assigned to

different industries and companies.

The research focused on the learners’ attitudes towards work

immersion as perceived by the Regular employees in Computer System

Servicing Companies. Specifically, the study aims to answer the following

questions, what are the attitudes of the Computer System Servicing

Learners’ in relation to His/ Her Workplace, The Regular employees of the

company he/ she works with.

The study where analyzed by the used of frequency count and

weighted mean. The result shown that the regular employees are Agree the

same with the relationship with the regular employees regarding with the

students’ attitude in workplace.

Chapter 1

The Problem

Work immersion is a key feature in the Senior High School

curriculum it can be conducted in different works depending on the purpose

and needs in the learners. Learners are immersed in which their prior

training is relevant experience of having a work immersion for students who

have not even entered college yet. This experience did merely serve as an

eye-opener, but an experience that established respect and teamwork that

would be part of a student’s life.

According to the DEPED (2012), work Immersion for SHS K to 12

Curriculum work Immersion refers to the part of the SHS Curriculum

consisting of 80 hours. On hands- on experience or work simulation which

the grade 11 and 12 students will undergo a training to the industrial

workplace.

The student are able to gain relevant and practical industrial skills

under the guidance of the industries expert workers, appreciate the

importance of development by good work habits and respect, enrich their

skill in communication and human relation, the work immersion has been a

fruitful, inspiring and an eye-opening experience for the Grade 12 students.

The work immersion for students below 15 years old must have the

permission of parents and must not be longer than four hours a day Senior

students regardless of age shall not be allowed for work immersion. In

industries considered hazardous shall in no case result in the replacement

or diminution of benefits of the workers in the partner enterprise.

The 80-hour work immersion shall be scheduled for no more than

eight cumulative or consecutive hours per day. All technical-vocational

schools offering senior high school shall be governed by Department of

Education guidelines and the safety guidelines set by the Technical

Education and Skills Development Authority in implementing the work

immersion program supervised by the school head and designated personnel

of the partner companies.

Attitude can alter every aspect of a person's life, including their

education. Student attitudes on learning determine their ability and

willingness to learn. towards learning is a process that involves determining

the factors driving the attitude and using this information to bring about

change.

Students who have the impression Attitudes towards workplace will

make little effort to contribute to their own learning.” (p. 244). It is

important for us to remember that what students believe about learning and

themselves as learners plays a key role in determining their success as

learners.
Statement of the Problem

The study wants to focus on the attitude of the CSS Learners’ of

GSCNSSAT as perceived by the regular employees, it hopes to answer the

following:

1. What are the Attitudes of the Computer System Servicing Learners’

in relation to:

a) His/ Her Workplace

b) The regular employees of the company he/she

works with.
Significance of the study

To the Company, this study will give the company an information about the

right attitude of their employees. This will help the company have an

effective employee.

To the School, this research will beneficial for them to fully understand the

different attitudes of a student/trainee study inside the school.

To the Teachers, for them to fully understand the current attitudes of their

student/trainees and serve as a guide for teaching the right attitude to the

students/trainees that will undergo the training.

To the Parent, for them to give an information about the attitudes of good

manners and right attitudes to their sons and daughters.

To the trainees, for them to understand and know their current attitudes

that they need to improve.

To the Researchers, the relevant of this study is to give a basis and serve

as guide to the other researchers.

Scope and Delimitation

The main objective of this study is to gather information regarding the

attitudes of CSS Students of GSCNSSAT that will undergo the training.

To gather credible Information to the Respondents’ Perception in

Computer System Servicing Learners’ Attitudes in relation to: workplace and

regular employees.

The main respondents of the study are the regular employees of the

CSS Company.
CHAPTER II

REVIEW RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

The review of the literature for this study focuses on Students’

attitude towards work immersion on education and its role in shaping the

future of students in K to 12 Curriculum Career education helps a student

make informed decisions in developing a career. Instead of focusing on

academic subjects, a student learns the tools of an occupation through

hands-on training. Career education is accomplished through a variety of

programs, such as adult education and employment training, mentoring

programs and community education Career education helps a person

develop the knowledge and skills they need to choose and pursue a career

path.

(McQuaid and Bond, 2003). The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten

and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years

of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) to provide

sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners,

and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills

development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

According to Learner (2012), students may develop employability skills

through learning activities. The opportunity to engage in a range of learning

activities, both co- and extra-curricular activities contribute to “students’

employability” employability is enhanced.

When students actively engage in a range of learning activities

(including personal development planning), and when the connection of

these activities with employability is made clear to them (The Higher

Education Academic, 2006).

(Official Gazette, 2012). Senior High School (SHS) covers the last two

years of the K to 12 program and includes Grades 11 and 12. In SHS,

students will go through a core curriculum and subjects under a track of

their choice.
Definitions of Terms

To words that has given earlier where define as follows:

Work immersion, is one of the learners’/students’ course to be past in or

order to graduate. It has done in a company where they will experience

actual work, where they can use there learning in their major course.

Workplace, is the place where the job is done.

Regular Employee, is regular or Full-Time Employees are scheduled to

work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, on a regular basis and are

expected to be employees

Attitudes, is the way a person expresses or applies their beliefs and values,

and is expressed through words and behavior.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

METHODOLOGY

This chapter displays the Method used in this study. It includes the

research design, respondents, research instrument, data gathering

procedure and statistical treatment.

Research design

The research used the descriptive method of research for learners’

Attitudes towards work Immersion as Perceived by Regular Employees In

Computer System Servicing Companies.

The descriptive method is often used by anthropologist, psychologist

and social scientist to observe natural behavior without effecting in any

away.

Descriptive method is a scientific research method which involves

observing and describing the behavior of a subject without influencing it in

any way. Social science and psychology use this method to obtain the

general overview of then subject (Shuttle Worth, 2008) the correlation type of

research is a measure two variables and access the statistical relationship.

In general, correlational study is a quantitative variables from the same

group of subject and are trying to determine if there is a relationship

between the two variables a similarity between the them not difference their

measure Correlations in research is a to figure out which variables are

connected this sample definition is the basis of several statistical test that
result in a correlation coefficient. Defined as a numerical representation of

strength and direction of a relationship.

Respondents of the study

The respondents of this study were the Regular Employees in

Computer System Servicing Companies towards work Immersion.

Distribution of Respondents

SEX POPULATION

Male 6

Female 5

TOTAL 11

The table above shows that there are 6 male and 5 female. The population is

composed of 11 regular employees in companies of computer system

servicing.

Research Instrument

The Researchers used a questionnaire as the main instrument for

gathering the need data. The instrument has one part; Part 1 is the

identification of Respondents’ Perception in Computer System Servicing

Learners’ Attitudes.
Data Gathering Procedure

Communication letter was sent to the principal of General Santos

City National Secondary School of Arts and Trade to allow the researchers to

conduct their study on the learning materials of Senior High School

Learners Upon approval, the researchers sought assistance to the manager

of the company to assist the researchers to conduct their study to the

Regular Employees in Computer System Servicing Companies. The

researchers provide personally administered the survey questionnaire to the

respondents for collect the data analysis and interpretation.

Statistical Treatment

The description of the Respondent Perception in Computer System

Servicing Learners’ Attitudes. Statistical treatment shows the ability and

techniques of researchers by gathering data or collecting information as the

source of regarding this research topic.

To describe the questionnaire method of Grade 12 Computer System

Servicing in regular employees, frequency count and weighted in mean

percentage was used.

The researchers had use the frequency count to determine the number of

regular employees.
